Two excellent museums/exhibitions for the price of one, Handel Hendrix House is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours or more. You’re in the company of two musical geniuses, what more could you ask for! The volunteer guides are especially helpful and happy to chat.

Sadly, very disappointing…
Sadly, very poor.
On arrival, at 3:55, I was told that I had 45 minutes in the property - this despite the website clearly stating it is open until 5pm. I was asked whether I was more interested in Handel or Hendrix. I enjoy both but expressed a greater interest in the latter and was “helpfully” advised “in that case, I suggest you spend more time in that section”…
As other reviews have stated, there is very little information in the Handel section - I read every word in every room and was through in 15 minutes. The Handel section is very disappointing and, again as others have mentioned, and despite Handel being “tangential” to it, the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square WC1, reveals far more about the man, his works and his values. I’d go there again in a flash!
The Hendrix section was better, and again I read every word, but there was nothing a Hendrix fan would not already know and no original artefacts. Bearing in mind that, other than one mirror, nothing was original, it’s a pity that there wasn’t a replica of a right-handed fender strat strung left-handed, leaning up against the replica Marshall cabinet in the rear room…
Sadly, at 4:40, I was told that I had to leave the last of the upstairs rooms and was hurried into the shop. I perused the items and was told that the shop had shut at 4:30 and I was asked to leave. When I noted that it was 4:45 and that I had understood that the museum was open until 5pm, I was told “we have to cash up”. Fair enough, but if visitors will be asked to leave at 4:45, maybe stating closing at 4:45 rather than 5pm would be more appropriate.
In summary, the whole experience was unwelcoming and disappointing. I’d give the Handel section one star, the Hendrix section two and the “welcome” less than zero.
If you’re interested in Handel, there are many better places to experience the man, his works, and his legacy - the Foundling Museum being one of the lesser-known, but best.
Sadly, the alternatives for Hendrix are more limited and so I can’t recommend a “place” to visit but “A Room Full Of Mirrors” is a good read and the dvd biography “Hendrix” cannot be beaten.

A great museum - but they need to let the rooms remain as they are, and have nicer staff!
I love going to the Handel Hendrix House - I go twice a year with differnet groups. But I really wish they would stop moving rooms and stuff around on the Hendrix side of the property. The rotating exhibitions at the Handel House are always well presented and consitent in the rooms that they are put in. But the Hendrix side has been reconfigured since I was last there in early 2026 - the room of his albums has been made smaller and shifted position, there seems to be less to read about him, the dress-up room is now in a very small place, and it just doesn't flow as well.
Also they need to be much clearer about what the end of the day policy was. I was still in there at 4:20pm and was asked by a very officious docent voluenteer how long I would be staying - when I said I thought the museum shuts at 5pm she said it did but they were closing up effectively each room behind me as I left them - so there's no chance to go through the house more than once. They also shut the front door so I has to go out a back way and was completely lost in the warren of news behind the building. Some of the staff there are very chatty but this particuarly member of staff seemed really grumpy that anyone would dare to visit. Very seriously reconsidering taking a group of people around again next year if they keep this behaviour and constant change up.

Handel Hendrix house top class
Excellent & great value-for-money attraction. Visited as group of 5 friends, we were impressed with the knowledgeable & friendly staff on both halves of the house. We spent way more time than expected there which shows how much we enjoyed. Especially enjoyed dressing up in the groovy gear in Jimi's flat.

Handel & Hendrix Museum
Quirky little museum. Contrasting styles of Handel and Hendrix. Incredible to think that two masters of music lived under the same roof but so many years apart. Staff very friendly & approachable.

Only for the fans
The house is said to be open till 5pm with last entry at 4pm. On my first visit I arrived spot on 4pm to find the door locked. The door was opened to let someone out. I asked if I could go in and was told it was closed. It felt very unwelcoming. I returned on another day, this time at 3pm and was allowed in. The best part is the Jimmy Hendrix flat which has some great story boards and details of the 1960's and Jimmy Hendrix's life in London. The Handel house part is ok but a bit light on information boards. The shop closed at spot on 4.30 pm. Given the unfriendliness of the place and the entrance fee (I got in using my Art Pass) it's only really for the real fans.

Hendrix flat
I visited here years ago when the Hendrix flat was just bare walls so seeing it done out as was in the 60s is great. I really liked the Handel house too as it shows how the house would've been originally.
Lovely staff to chat to too.

Well worth visiting
I’d been past the front door many times over the last 25 years and finally decided to visit, there’s probably more to see in the Handel house than Hendrixs flat but I’m glad I finally saw it, two snapshots of a London long gone.

Great visit thanks to Karin
We loved our visit here! Both Handle’s house and Hendrix’s flat were informative and really interesting. There was lots of information displayed, and an app we could download with additional details.
But what really made this such a great experience for us was one of the volunteer guides! (Karin I think she was called) She gave us so much information and told us so many stories about the two musicians, it was clear how passionate she was. We later found out from another member of staff that she was 95 years old! She is a credit to the museum, and an incredible woman.

It’s a nice informative visit.
I liked the visit. We thought it was a guided tour but it was docents in each room- some more knowledgeable than others. I thought the parts about Handel were good information and there were several areas where you could listen to his music. The Hendrix part of it was much smaller as he lived on one floor and was there for about 8 months I think although a pivotal time in his too short and illustrious career. If you want Handel information I’d give it an A. For Hendrix info - it’s for hard core Hendrix fans as it as many high points of that period, and some good footage and other information. There is a guide to read you can download but we didn’t bother. The house itself is very nice. The staff were more than friendly and helpful.
