However, I sincerely believe that the 3-star rating was based more on a misunderstanding regarding the booking rather than the actual quality of the service you received. The excursion you selected through Viator was the economy option for 1–4 persons, which refers to a private taxi transfer. The Mercedes van option is also available, but only for the corresponding booking category. Therefore, the photos of vans in our listing are not misleading — they simply represent a different vehicle category. I personally confirm this. Regarding the pickup point, the port authority has recently changed the regulations for all transportation companies in Katakolo, which is why a short walk from the cruise exit is now required. That being said, we personally ensured your day ran as smoothly as possible. I was the one who recommended Anemos Beach Bar, as it offers free umbrellas and sunbeds for our guests, unlike most beach bars in the area. I was also in constant communication with your driver to ensure everything was going as planned. The vehicle provided was a legal, modern 2020-model taxi with a professional English-speaking driver, and the service you received was a private, fully organized experience — not simply “a taxi from the rank.” Honestly, on your next visit to Katakolo, I would encourage you to try a standard taxi from the port rank so you can personally compare the vehicle quality, whether the driver speaks English, the actual cost, the time limitations at the beach, the level of organization, the exact drop-off point, and whether anyone will guide you to the right beach bar so you do not end up paying extra for umbrellas and sunbeds. Only then, perhaps, you may better understand the difference between a simple transfer and a properly organized private experience.
