This was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Gabriel, was very thoughtful and shared such interesting information. The thermal baths were incredible. I would highly recommend this tour.

Gabriel was awesome, funny, and so knowledgeable. He took us to a lookout point to get some nice photos before the thermal baths and showed us around Furnas. We had a nice long soak in the baths and it was so worth it. He dropped us off right at our hostel so relaxed and ready for an awesome sleep. The evening option was even better than daytime in my opinion. This is a must do if you’re on São Miguel.

I had a super informative and relaxing evening. Gabriel was our guide. He was very communicative and open, which made me feel very comfortable. Gabriel provided us with all the information regarding the surroundings and history, so the relaxing conclusion at the spa came just in time for him to sort his thoughts and let himself drift. We had an amazing private tour yesterday exploring Furnas and the hot springs with Gabriel as our guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. Gabriel shared so much interesting information about the area, local history, and culture, while making sure we saw all the best spots at our own pace. This is an amazing tour of Furnas! Gabriel was a wonderful guide and we learned so much about the history of the islands, the culture, and the Furnas region. We highly recommend adding on dinner as the Cozido Das Furnas was a very unique experience. The thermal pools were so relaxing. We traveled with our two teenagers who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you Gabriel for a wonderful tour!

You need to experience the thermal baths. Extremely relaxing time, and the nature that surrounds you is beautiful. Gabriel is more than a tour guide, he goes above and beyond. Book with him in the early days of your trip. He has a breadth of knowledge of Sao Miguel and loves to give recommendations for food, activities, sights, etc.

The thermal baths were nice but very busy. As these are not very large even with a small group of people it feels crammed. Also showers, shower gel etc everything has to be paid for with coins so make sure you bring change. There was floating hairs in the thermal baths and showers so didn’t feel very hygienic. The staff in the thermal baths are helpful and friendly and there’s a nice selection of souvenirs in their gift shop. The transfer to/from the thermal baths felt very was uncomfortable as we were picked up with a car that would sit 4 adults not 5. As we were 2 couples who didn’t know each other, plus the driver, there was 1 adult sat at the front with the driver so one couple couldn’t sit together while the other 3 adults had to squeeze in on the back seat of the car. The guest next to us happened to have a bad cold and cough and so kept coughing and as we were squeezed next to each other, it made for an uncomfortable ride.

The tour was included in my holiday package from Journaway. I was alone on the tour. Gabriel picked me up at hotel. He has told a lot about the islands, the history and sights. First we went to a viewpoint over Funas and the lake, then to the place Funas with the hot springs. Unfortunately, we were not at the hotplates or the sulphur field. The end was a dip in the spa with natural water. Here you were dropped off and later picked up again. Afterwards we went back to the capital. Gabriel gave me another food recommendation and offered his help for the further journey (also on other islands).

Gabriel was our guide and he was amazing. He had a perfectly tired arrival to our hotel, gathered us water and towels for our trip and we set off in a clean and safe roomy SUV. Gabriel navigated the Azorean countryside with ease as we drove up through beautiful farmland and through small towns to the overlook of our destination. He explained the flora and fauna of the islands and detailed the rich history of Portugal and its heritage islands. The tour of Furnace was amazing and the baths entry was smooth and easy. The facilities were well taken care of and secure. The baths were relaxing and calm and the hour and a half was plenty of time to unwind before our journey back to our hotel. 10/10 would highly recommend this intimate and romantic adventure!
