Ten stars!!!!

A lovely home, an excellent host, and a fantastic time. Rojda is a spectacular teacher. Kind, patient, informative, and attentive. The baklava was some of the tastiest I’ve ever had, and it really sheds a light on how labor intensive this delicious treat is. The end result is absolutely worth the four hours spent making it. I would absolutely do this again the next time I’m in Istanbul.

We had an absolutely...

We had an absolutely incredible experience at this baklava cooking class, easily one of the highlights of our trip. What made it so special wasn’t just learning how to make baklava (which we now feel genuinely confident to recreate at home), but the deeply authentic and cultural experience that came with it. Being welcomed into Rodja’s home completely changed the dynamic, it felt warm, personal, and real in a way no commercial class ever could. Rodja is an exceptional host. Her skills are outstanding, but more importantly, she has a way of teaching that makes everything feel achievable. She didn’t just show us how to make baklava — she gave us the confidence that we can make it ourselves, in our own kitchen. A real highlight was sitting down and sharing the meal with Rodja and her family. It gave us such a genuine insight into the culture and the role food plays in bringing people together. Our 9-year-old also did the class and absolutely loved it — which says a lot about how engaging and welcoming the whole experience was. The attention to detail was incredible — from providing takeaway containers so we could bring our baklava with us, to generously sharing local tips on where to find the best spices and hidden food spots. As a final touch, Rodja even shared her age-old family recipe with us — something that made the experience feel truly special and personal. If you’re looking for something genuine, meaningful, and memorable — not just a “class” but a true cultural experience — this is it. Highly, highly recommended

An unforgettable experience with an amazing host!

Five stars! This was so much more than just a baklava class. Rojda’s home is lovely and spotless, and she is an expert at explaining every step of the process for making authentic baklava. I left feeling like I’d made a new friend and learned a lifelong skill. I will definitely be practicing this recipe at home!

Best Baklava

We prepared Baklava completely from scratch! We made the dough and sirup and cracked the nuts. The Baklava we made was one of the best ones I had around Istanbul, so I definitely recommend the class. Rojda has all the ingredients ready, but you may want to bring a notebook, so write down the exact amount needed, so you can make it at home as well. It's also a great experience to be welcomed to a locals house and I enjoyed talking with Rojda during the class.

Disappointment

The course did not meet our expectations. We had a problem with the hygiene in the apartment. The table we worked on was small and we were in each other's way. We didn't even get the recipe we were working on, and we asked for it several times. We have been to many courses, this was the only disappointing one.

Hi Petia, Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. I would like to gently clarify a few points, as there may have been some misunderstandings. This experience takes place in my home and is designed as a small, intimate cooking workshop rather than a restaurant setting, which many guests appreciate. Regarding the recipe, I shared all the steps during the class and you also took notes at that time. After the session, I sent the recipe again to the contact address provided. I’m happy to resend it if needed. I was also surprised to read your comment about hygiene, as I always take great care to maintain a clean and well-prepared environment. If you would like to share more details, I would be open to understanding your concern better. I was also surprised by your overall feedback, as I did my best to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, including offering tea and homemade baklava to take away as a gesture of hospitality. I truly value feedback and will reflect on your comments. Wishing you all the best. Best regards, Rojda

Much love for Fatma and her baklava

We really enjoyed the Baklava experience. We were warmly welcomed by Fatma and we felt immediately at home. We were able to do everything ourselves with her help. At the end, we were treated to some delicious homemade baklava. If you love baking or are interested in learning something new, don't hesitate to book a spot. You will definitely enjoy it. Much love to Fatma and her husband.
