I especially appreciated the mix historical information and scenic stops around the city. Marseille has a lot to offer, and this tour is a great way to cover the main highlights with any problems.
They should stay with you the entire time and let them stop and shop for a coffee or anything you may want instead of leaving you alone for an hour.
The stop at Notre Dame was probably my favorite part. The view over the city and coastline was honestly way better than I expected. We stayed there longer than planned because everyone kept taking photos from different angles.
This excursion was a great fit for our family because it combined sightseeing with enough flexibility for everyone to enjoy the day differently. The transportation from the cruise port was comfortable, and the organization throughout the excursion felt very professional. Our children enjoyed walking around the waterfront and watching the boats in the harbor, while the adults appreciated the historical information shared by the guide. We also had enough free time to try local pastries and relax at a small café near the port area. The pace of the excursion was manageable, even for older family members. Overall, it was a pleasant and memorable day in Marseille.
As a solo traveler, I wanted a shore excursion that felt safe, organized, and easy to manage. This tour checked all those boxes. From pickup near the cruise terminal to the return later in the afternoon, everything was clearly communicated and well timed. Marseille itself was fascinating, with a mix of historic architecture, busy streets, and beautiful sea views. I enjoyed hearing about the city’s background while also having enough free time to wander independently and stop at local cafés. The excursion pace was comfortable and not exhausting, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a stress-free way to experience Marseille during a cruise stop.
This was our last shore excursion for this cruise... and our fifth with Viator. All the tours were great so far, each guide providing a unique experience for us. Our tour guide, Olga, faithfully continued this trend. Once we were all collected at the designated meeting point we headed for Aux en Provence. It's about a 30 minute drive and all the while Olga entertained us with fun and interesting facts about the area history and culture, both past and present. Her humorous quips peppered throughout her commentary made listening a joy. She guided us to many of the highlights of the city and then gave us some time to explore on our own. Then back to Marseille for a tour of some of the city's most spectacular sights, culminating in a stop at the Notre Dame de la Garde high above the city. Olga and her team did an amazing job of navigating the logistics of this busy city and went above and beyond to provide a day none of us will soon forget. For this they have mine and my husband's eternal gratitude.

The tour operator provided email instructions to meet at the parking lot at the port exit. Turns out we had to walk 20 min to get the port exit in very hit weather. There was a group of 20 and seems like everyone has missed the instructions. So we started the tour with 1 5 hours gone. The bus was not well air-conditioned. And the tour was very rushed and we were just driving by things, we had 3 stops, one was a city tour and 2 additional stops where we were given 10 min each for pictures or bathroom stop. We were extremely disappointed with this excursion. The tour guid and driver were nice thays the only reason im not giving a one star. Avoid this operator and make sure you book sometgwhere you are picked up and dropped off by your terminal, not the posrt exit!

As for the distance from the pier, please address this concern to MSC Cruise Line, which selected the farther less expensive pier where your ship docked. 3. Please do not refer to other tour participants unless you officially represent them. 4. The Meeting and Pickup section states that pickup starts 30 minutes before departure. If you do not wish to wait for fellow cruisers disembarking, we strongly recommend booking a private tour instead of a shared tour. 5. Please note that additional information section of this tour description clearly states the following: “Please note that the sequence of the tour itinerary and the time spent at each location might be adjusted in response to variables like traffic conditions, crowd sizes, and unforeseen events. However, we will our best to cover all the destinations mentioned in the itinerary. 6. All sites mentioned in the tour itinerary were covered, and the tour duration was delivered as advertised.” All these facts can be verified, which is why your refund request has been respectfully declined. When booking future activities with Viator, we highly recommend basing your expectations on the tour description, inclusions, and itinerary rather than personal assumptions. Safe travels.
The meeting place was not accurately described and was 1.3 miles from exiting the port building. Only 5 (including us) of the over 20 on the tour made it to the bus before the 10 am time to depart, and everyone was upset about the poor directions. No one apologized when it was clear the directions need to be improved. Thus, we left 30 minutes late, spent too much time at our first stop, did not get to go to 2 of our scheduled stops, and had difficulty understanding our guide’s accent. The “talk” emphasized how much everything cost and there was an emphasis on problems in the country. I did not “feel” the guide had any love for France. Our tour the day before was awesome.,,,night and day.

Please note that not many guides in Europe speak American English; rather, they speak international English with an accent. When traveling internationally, different accents are to be expected, to improve your ability to understand them, we recommend traveling outside the US more often. 6. Unfortunately, this trip was un-Viator. We booked for a 6- 8 person tour for all day. We actually waited for 2 more cruise ships to merge onto a 45 person bus, and we departed at 11:10, instead of 8 am. Tour guide's first pickup at port, who said they would never do a port pickup again. Unclear where to find them, returned late to the ship and the sound system was poor. Worst experience traveling we've had. Grossly misrepresented. Shook our faith in Viator.
