カトマンズのダルバール広場は、渓谷にある 3 つのダルバール (王宮) 広場のうちの 1 つで、ユネスコの世界遺産に登録されています。広場の建設は 3 世紀に始まりましたが、広場内の主要な建造物は後の時代に追加されました。外側の複合施設は、マラ王の治世中に建てられた 16 世紀の多数の寺院で構成されています。これらの建物は、ネワール建築の特徴である細心の注意を払って彫刻されたファサードで飾られています。 中央広場は、マラ時代とシャー時代に建てられた宮殿群に囲まれています。その中で最もよく知られているのは、ネパール統一を記念してプリトヴィ ナラヤン シャーによって建てられた 9 階建ての宮殿、ナウタレ ダルバールです。クマリ チョークまたはクマリ バハルと呼ばれる 3 階建ての寺院は、ダルバール広場の南端にあります。このマラ時代の寺院は、ヒンズー教の女神ドゥルガーの生きた化身として崇拝されている若い女の子、クマリの住居として使用されています。
このツアーの 2 番目の目的地は、猿の寺院であるスワヤンブナートになります。スワヤンブナートには、マハチャイティヤとして知られる大きな仏塔があります。この場所のチベット語の名前は、丘にあるさまざまな種類の木にちなんで「崇高な木」を意味します。しかし、シングンは、ネパールのバサ複合施設「スワヤンブ」（自発性を意味する）の名前である可能性があります。神話の歴史や起源神話、そして日々の宗教的実践においてスワヤンブが中心的な位置を占めている仏教徒のネワール人にとって、それはおそらく仏教巡礼地の中で最も神聖な場所です。チベット人およびチベット仏教の信者にとって、それはブッダに次ぐ第二の場所です。それに、スワヤンブはヒンズー教の名前です。さらに、丘の頂上からは渓谷の 360 度の景色を眺めることができます。

We enjoyed a great tour with Nilakantha Acharya. He patiently explained the religious and cultural importance of the temples, palaces, and local areas. We learned a lot about Nepal and Kathmandu in a few hours with Nilakantha, not to mention a tasty lunch at the Durbar Square. For our special request to buy tea, Nilakantha took extra time and effort, bringing us to a tea store I specified. We could not ask for a better way to spend an afternoon in Kathmandu!!

Nilakantha Acharya, our guide for this tour, is excellent! He taught us so many things about Durbar Square and Monkey Temple. We learnt a lot from him and made us appreciate Nepal more. This tour company and Nilakantha are highly recommended if ever you need tour services in Nepal.

What a lovely tour, and incredible intro to Nepal and Kathmandu! I did option 1 with Nilakantha, and could not recommend it more. It ended up being a private tour (unexpectedly), which was amazing. The first stop was more of a city square with a ton of different buildings, which was great for the history, and the second stop was a temple (both Hindu and Buddhist) which was great for religion and mythology. I had looked at the tours with more stops, but I’m so glad I booked this one instead! We could really take our time at each stop, and Nilakantha adjusted according to what I was most interested in and what questions I was asking. He even took me to an incredible rooftop for coffee when jet lag hit between stops! He was also so patient with the million photos I took, but I know that if I’d been in a hurry then he would have adjusted for that too (he asked upfront about my time commitments for the day). Honestly can’t recommend this enough!

We did a private tour which was a good half day and fulfilled our wishes. Our guide was helpful, kind, and knowlegeable but sometimes we had to repeat ourselves as he did not fully understand our questions.

The local guide was very friendly and always eager to fulfill special requests. The driver was also excellent. The whole tour was really tailor-made, which gave me a deep insight into the culture and life in Kathmandu.
