A very disappointing experience at the Bahariya Oasis We are extremely disappointed with this experience, which absolutely does not correspond to what we expected from an excursion in the Black Desert and the White Desert. The guides stayed in the vehicle or off to the side most of the time, without trying to explain anything to us. We had practically no explanation about the places visited, nor about the history of the desert, nor about the incredible rock formations that we discovered. We crossed these landscapes without really understanding what we were looking at, even though the role of a guide is precisely to help us discover and understand these natural wonders. The camping was also a big disappointment: no atmosphere, no special activities, no real moment of sharing. We expected to have a friendly and memorable experience in the heart of the desert, but we mostly had the feeling of being left to our own devices. The only activity that we really enjoyed was sandboarding (sliding down a dune), which was fun. It is a real shame, because the Black Desert and the White Desert are magnificent places that deserve to be discovered with passionate guides, capable of sharing their knowledge and making the experience come alive. In summary: beautiful landscapes, but very insufficient guidance and a disappointing overall experience. We do not recommend this excursion if you are looking for a true cultural discovery, explanations about the rock formations, and a great camping experience in the desert.
