The organization of the transfer to the entrance is an absolute disaster. We had to wait 1 hour and 55 minutes for the bus. We were in Ercolano at 2:35 PM, where we were informed that the next bus would not leave until 4:30 PM. The fact that we already had tickets for 4:00 PM was of no interest here. The time slot for 2 hours is apparently included here right away.
I would advise against choosing this route; there is also one via Pompeii that is obviously better organized.

Service as expected, very simple way to visit Vesuvius
From the UK it was hard to book tickets direct to Vesuvius National Park, so I opted for the transport and ticket option offered by Vesuvius express. Process was very simple - train to Ercolano station, the office of Vesuvio Express is just outside the railway station and the bus parks about 100m away. Departed on time at 11am, we were give our timed entrance tickets to the park. The journey up takes about 30 mins - it's a very windy road. You get 1.5 hours to go to the crater rim and back down to catch the coach back down, which is plenty of time - the ascent only took us about 20-25 minutes and we had a drink at the top, walked down in about 15 minutes.
The return coach was about 15 minutes late, but the road is narrow and busy with tour coaches so it is understandable that delays can occur - just factor in some additional time if you have something booked after at Ercolano!

Comfortable and serious travel
We left Naples. Meeting point very well explained and easy to access.
Mini bus on time, comfortable and perfect driver.
An hour drive to the nearest parking lot to the entrance.
No stress for entrance tickets as they are included in the price of 35 euros per person, they are distributed to us before getting off the mini bus.
Perfect return too.
I advise you, much quieter than to get in the head with the train, bus, parking, transfer, reservation of the entrance ticket...

long wait when we came back
We had a nice time at Vesuvius, however we had to wait about 1 hour at the meeting point for the bus back. It was long wait but there was a staff member who updated the situation which was reassuring.

To do absolutely but harm yourself with patience…
The experience itself was very nice. Very impressive crater and well worth the climb with spectacular views over Naples. The transport though was absolutely chaotic. No lines, people pushing to get into the bus, no organisation whatsoever. Thankfully there were buses every 5 minutes but for the return we really had to fight to get into the bus. Would be great to improve the organisation to make it a more memorable experience.

Versuvuis plus shuttle
Amazing experience! This was definitely the highlight of our trip. It took my teenagers 20 minutes to walk up to the Crater. I would definitely take the shuttle as the car park is a long walk from the entry which is only accessible by shuttle. Breathtaking views. My daughter wanted to give up a 1/4 of the way up as reported it was hard going but my son pushed her the remainder of the way. Finishing was a great achievement 👏

Dear,
It is our price policy. If you reserve online, you are able to choose the day and the hour that you prefer without a queue.
If you come directly in the office, you can save money but you are not sure about the next available bus.
The most important thing is that you liked the experience on the Vesuvio.

Rushed up and back down
The trip was fine. However we could have used more time. It felt rushed once we arrived we had just over an hour to get to the top and back down, and there is loose gravel and uneven ground so if you are not in shape it would be very hard to make it to the top. My suggestion would be to allow another 30 minutes time.
