Myself and my partner (25 & 24) attended the morning walk and feed which we throughly enjoyed. We were concerned prior to booking about going to an elephant sanctuary that was unethical or harmed the elephants and thus we were really happy to see, and hear, that the elephants are well treated and cared for. The experience is on the shorter end which is good but also very thorough. Would recommend !
We fed and walked with these incredible animals! I am truly fascinated with elephants with their calmness and beauty. We never felt rushed and got to feed them. But then there was a no touch policy you just wander round seeing them in different areas of the park.
It was a super day, this encounter with the elephants was a magical experience. Being so close to them. Learning each of their story. Bukit Elephant park is doing such a beautiful work of buying these elephants, to protect them and give them a new life. Thanks for team work who take care of them and protect them. Thank you again for this fabulous day and for this close encounter. Joel and Marie France
This felt like a truly ethical elephant park experience. As such, you’re not allowed to touch the elephants, bathe them etc. We felt this was a very good thing. We did manage to feed the elephants and even though it was a large group, they’re hungry enough that if you’re at the back of the line to feed them, they’re still plenty hungry.
Everything was awesome. Thank you for this lovely experience. Every elephant is a rescue, mostly from logging or tourist industry. Finally they get to do elephant stuff. There is no riding, no bathing, no touching. As they all were born in captivity they don’t know how to provide for themselves, so this sanctuary is very neccessary. Thank you Sirima for explaining everything in such a funny and patient way. I loved Princess‘ attitude! Can only recommend!
Walk and Feed Tour - Elephants can grow old here in peace - No more tourist riding, no more chains and hooks with which they are guided. Nevertheless, they are “demonstrated” to the tourists. This must be clear when booking the tour. Nevertheless, a nice memory for the whole family.
This is the most ethical elephant sanctuary near Kata and Karon beaches. There is no reason to choose another further away. They picked us up from the hotel with 3 hour notice. Siri was our guide and I could see the passion for helping the animals in her voice. We had also unfortunate experience to forget one of our hats in the car and the staff was so helpful that the driver brought it back to our hotel. ++++ experience
We did the Phuket sanctuary Walk & Feed programme. We chose here as we wanted to find an ethical sanctuary, not one where you could ride them. There was more people than I thought there would be (as the website said they kept numbers down) but it was organised well and in a way that didn’t seem too crowded. We started off getting a bowl of bananas to feed to the elephants then took a walk around where the guide introduced us to each elephant and told us all about them (their personalities, where they came from etc). After meeting each elephant, we then made up rice bowls to feed to them. It was lovely seeing the elephants roam around at their leisure but sad hearing their back stories and what had led them to needing rescuing. Overall it was a great experience!
We spent sometime looking at the vsrious elephant sanctuaries. This one ticks our boxes for being more ethical. No bathing with elephants or touching them. We were given backstories of Bukit and each elephant. We did feed them some bananas and made them rice balls. All the elephants have been rescued and were older. It was very peaceful. We did a 2 hour visit. It is very hot there. Take water. Good walking shoes. Sun crwam and a big hat
Amazing to be with these majestic elephants and to observe them in their habitat. What a wonderful morning we had feeding and walking with them, even taking photographs to remind us of how privileged we were to be in such close proximity. This is a must do activity for visitors to Thailand however please remember that these are rescued elephants that have had miserable lives before being purchased by the sanctuary and their space must be respected. Thank you for allowing us to share this with you.
