Our tour of Chania, Crete with Yannis was an absolutely unforgettable experience! From start to finish, he made us feel welcome, comfortable, and truly immersed in the beauty and culture of Crete. Every stop along the way was thoughtfully chosen; the views were incredible and the food was amazing! We had the chance to taste authentic local flavors and discover delicious dishes that made the experience even more special. Yannis was very knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the best of Chania with us. It felt much more like exploring Crete with a friend than taking a typical tour. My husband, my best friend, and I went on Yannis’ Gastronomy Tour, and honestly, it was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip to Crete! We expected amazing food, but this tour gave us so much more. It was a wonderful journey through the history, culture, villages, and beautiful landscapes of Crete. Yannis took us to places we never would have found on our own, and each stop seemed to have its own fascinating story. We learned about Chania’s beautiful bay, the history of the area, stories involving spies and the old prison, and so much more. The monastery was absolutely beautiful and filled with history. What made everything even more special was having Yannis there to explain the stories and history behind the places we were visiting. You could truly feel how much he loves Crete and how proud he is to share it with others. And then there was the FOOD! 😍 We finished our day at a beautiful lake, where the food and drinks seemed to never stop coming. Everything was delicious, and we happily ate—and ate some more! It was the perfect ending to an incredible day. We laughed, explored, learned, ate an incredible amount of delicious food, and discovered parts of Crete we would never have experienced on our own. We left with full hearts, very full stomachs, and memories that we will talk about for years to come. If you are visiting Crete, do yourself a favor and book Yannis’ Gastronomy Tour! This tour took us through very beautiful countryside. Our guide was warm and attentive. All the food was excellent! Overall it was a very personal and intimate tour. We highly recommend it!

We had an amazing time with Yannis, tasting local foods and getting to go through the countryside. He took us to interesting spots and thoroughly explained what we were seeing and eating. This tour was one of the top highlights of the trip. Make sure to come hungry because there is a lot of delicious food!

I am participating alone. It was a shame I couldn't go to the winery, but I visited the church, olive oil factory, local restaurants, and the lake. The tour guide was also kind, and the food was good. It was a wonderful experience overall.

Ioannis was born on the island and takes you to the parts most visitors miss. It's a restful day eating traditional Cretan dishes spent in beautiful, out-of-the-way places, away from the usual crowds.

This was an accidental tour, which turned out to be the best experience of any short excursions that I have done whether through the cruise line or through other sources. The original excursion was supposed to be seven people, but got canceled because my bank, which is United States received the charge at two in the morning while I was asleep and at sea. Since I could not answer it in a timely fashion, they declined the charge. So I woke up to the cancellation but had recommendations for a nearly identical excursion with an additional 25% off. I booked immediately. The guide Yannis spoke very good English and it turned out to be that I was the only one on his excursion. So he arrived very nice and although there was a pre-created itinerary he still had the courtesy to ask me what do you want to see what kind of travel do you like. I told him that I have traveled extensively almost everywhere in the world at age 55. I said cancel the regular itinerary. I do not need to see another monastery church or ruin. I asked him to treat me like a friend or relative coming to his area for the first time and to show me what he would be most proud to show. He took me to the wonderful solitary lake in the center of the island at the base of the mountain for lunch. We also had coffee and a pre-lunch on a cliffside, which was magnificent. We stopped at a bakery for local Yum Yum‘s. We also stopped at a couple of other places like an original olive oil mill who still does it partly by hand and the rest by machinery and a couple of other interesting places. I don’t know about the company as a hole, but I can say if I was going to do this again I would definitely ask for him by name because he is the best guide I have had on any of my worldwide travels over the past 30+ years. He also insured that as a registered nurse age 55 with a little beat up body with joints and hips and such did not take me to anywhere that I felt uneasy going. All in all I think he is the best guide that this company has and I look forward to seeing him again next year.
