What a professional service for a great price! Gorki was an amazing planner, he managed everything so perfectly, he was on time, he gave us enough time for the rainbow mountains and the red valley, we could enjoy both the amazing sites with no rush. The bus was comfortable and the lunch buffet divine. Absolutely recommend it
Our guide Carlos was very kind!! And the driver too. A great experience doing the trekking to the mountain (5100 meters) although the mountain differs a lot from what is seen on the Internet
We were transported by a completely full van, which didn't have much leg space for tall guys, whilst the first raw which has more space was taken up by short women, who were also totally inconsiderate of others, they slept as if the van was their bed, and when awake they spoke on their phones, video calling and playing reels really loudly without caring about others wanting to sleep around them. This is not the tour operators fault per say, but they could have laid down some ground rules to address the selfish and self-absorbed travellers. I understand that as a guide you don't want to tell off guests, but letting a few ruin the whole journey - which was 3.5-4 hours each way - for other guests is crap. As a tour provider you need to ensure everyone is having a good experience. Other then this the destination was amazing, beautiful views of the Rainbow mountain and Red Valley. However, you should leave more time for those that actually hike up to the Rainbow mountain and then to the Red Valley and back to complete the loop. At such high elevation frequent stops are essential as people are really out of breath. Saying 1 hour to hike up, 1 hour to spend there, and 1 hour to come back down suits those who either take the motorbike or horse options up (90 soles per person), or those who don't want to take the optional Red Valley tour. We took 1 hour 5 mins to hike up with frequent stops, spent about 30mins up there for photos, and left 20mins ahead of schedule for the Red Valley part of the loop, which took us 1h 35mins in total, but we were nearly running towards the end as we were already 15mins late to our originally communicated departure time. It was not an issue at the end, as others only arrived 5mins before us, but this put us through some completely unnecessary distress. There should be more time allowed, as without any phone signals up there we couldn't even reach our guide, and were really feeling unwell after rushing down to not be too late. You don't need to hike up fully to the mountain top once you reach the base of the Rainbow mountain, the best views are from half way up. It's also really cold up there, so do take warm clothes, hats, bandanas, and gloves. There are also some funny llamas up there to take photos with for a little tip, which is funny. Breakfast and lunch are buffet, it's alright if you don't have any dietary requirements, however I have to follow a gluten free diet, and the guide didn't really know what that really means. He explained what each food is, but only the basics of "okay this is pasta you can't have that", but all the things with different sauces I didn't risk to try as he had no idea that those could contain gluten (e.g. soy sauce), and he didn't even offer to ask the kitchen. I appreciate that it was not an expensive tour, but people with gluten allergies should be aware that this isn't a safe place to eat. I had things that I generally consider gluten free looking (e.g. scrambled eggs and fruits for breakfast, quinoa, vegetables, salad for lunch) and had the snacks I took with me as I didn't trust that I'll have much to eat based on the careless reply of the tour provider saying "it will be buffet style food so there will be gluten free options". Some more positives to mention to be fair: the driver was good, the guide was really nice and friendly, he gave us something to inhale to help with the altitude sickness, and the walking sticks provided. Tips: be aware of the terrain, there are steep parts and it can get muddy and slippery after raining. If you don't trust your abilities, just pay extra for the motorbike or horse to take you up. You'll have to walk down yourself. The optional trip to the Red Valley must be hiked, you don't have motorbikes or horses going up there. It's also a difficult hike both up and down! But the views are so worth it!
It was a beautiful experience, the place is on another level, Fredy our guide gave us good directions and recommendations, and was always attentive to the group.
I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. The tour description stated that pickup would be from my accommodation. I sent my accommodation details as soon as I had internet after several days in the mountains. The evening before the tour, I was told I instead had to walk about 15 minutes to a pickup point for a 4:00 a.m. departure, meaning leaving my accommodation around 3:45 a.m. This was different from what had been advertised. I asked if they could either honor the advertised pickup or offer a small discount for the inconvenience. Instead, I was told to cancel. I explained it was far too late because I had planned my trip around this hike. The conversation quickly became hostile, and I was ultimately told they would refuse to pick me up. After I said I would leave an honest review describing what happened, my booking was canceled. Plans can change, and mistakes happen. What matters is how a company responds. In my experience, there was no willingness to find a reasonable solution, and the customer service was unprofessional from start to finish.
Everything was great, Dora and Renato were very kind, they picked us up at our accommodation, helped us with everything, and were always attentive.
Really great tour. Freddie our guide was so lovely, funny and knowledgeable. He was very attentive and made sure everyone was ok. He also on the way back showed us a different route down which was beautiful. 100% recommend!!
Challenge completed. Excellent tour, walking uphill to the 5036 meters of height of the Vinicunca rainbow mountain and then 100 more meters to contemplate the Red Valley. The journey, walking slowly and with pauses, is achievable. While you can choose to do it on horseback or an ATV (the last part requires ascending steep stairs), I chose to walk to slowly take in the entire landscape. Bring coca leaves and floral water; it will help you with altitude sickness. Although the day was sunny, it is still necessary to dress warmly. Don't miss the Red Valley; beautiful views await you.
The guide Dora was kind, attentive, and explained everything regarding the history of the Mountain of Seven Colors. She also kept an eye on each of the hikers. Great experience
