It seriously needs editing. The purpose of this experience was Day of the Dead. The first 2 cemeteries in Oaxaca were…. Dead. Few living souls. It was unclear why we were even there. It got better, but it also needs to be edited. Traveling a good distance to then have 10-15 minutes there was not realistic. Adding additional cemeteries was really overkill. Pretty much the entire group was annoyed with the time constraints. The long distances of walking in between to then have little time upon arrival. And it was wonderful. Eventually. And it helped me to get a deeper understanding of Day of the Dead. The tour just really needs to be edited. A couple cemeteries, maybe three, are fine. And there was little point of going to the cemeteries in Oaxaca when the guides knew nothing would be happening.

We want to clarify that our itinerary is designed to visit exactly three cemeteries to show the contrast between the solemn traditions (which can be quiet) and the festive ones. The long walks and time constraints are unfortunately due to city street closures and heavy traffic during the holiday, which are beyond our control. We are glad that, despite this, you gained a deeper understanding of the tradition.
