The pick up from vienna was timely and instructions on how to return with the catamaran ferry were made clear. Unfortunately our guide for the walking tour was not good at all. We were told nothing about the history of bratislava, no anecdotes of any sights. We were told instead were to buy souvenirs and have hot chocolate. We were even told about a candy shot that you can find all over Europe. We pretty much ended up getting information from Gemini.

Unfortunately the walking tour guide was 30 minutes late picking up the tour group. She expressed upsetting antisemitic views and made inappropriate comments about three Jewish sites in Bratislava on the tour. It was convenient travelling by bus from Vienna to Bratislava and to have the return catamaran ticket pre-purchased. The sites in Bratislava were interesting historically and picturesque based on my solo walks.

It is a great day trip. The guide in Bratislava was excellent and provided a great deal of information about the country and its history. The old city is relatively compact so even people like myself with walking issues can manage it. The one downside was the amount of free time - 6 hours was too much. Fortunately, the catamaran company gave me an earlier sailing for a 10 euro surcharge.

Is a must...on the Big danube fluviu, long of 2850 km. Which past in 10 country lands..!!!

Overall it was an interesting trip, with much to see enroute along the way via coach and by boat along the Danube River. Our guide in Bratislava, Maria, was very patient and provided our group with much history and unique perspectives on Slovakia and Bratislava in particular. At times it wasn’t always easy to hear her given the surroundings, but she was happy to repeat explanations. Likewise, the Oldtimer bus tour to Bratislava Castle was most informative and a relaxing way to see the city. The only downside to the day was that the Vienna tour organiser just met us at the departure point then left us in the hands of the driver who either didn’t know where we were to be dropped off, or simply didn’t care. As a consequence, we spent nearly an hour milling around the drop off point trying to connect up with our guides. We eventually connected with the guides but by then, some in our group went off and did their own thing. My advice is for anyone taking part in this tour, ensure you have the Vienna based organisers’ contact number, should matters not work out as expected.

This was a perfect day trip to enjoy Bratislava. This tour allowed me to experience a new city and new country from Vienna versus actually staying there. It was perfect!

A pleasant and efficient way to take in Bratislava. We left promptly from Opera house in a small bus and made it without issue. I enjoyed the Austrian countryside with the wind turbine field and just at border noted the collection of drab Communist era buildings. There was no guide or commentary on the bus. A Slovak native guide met us and guided us around through the old city. She gave a lot of history. She showed us how to upgrade the tour with a tram ride to the castle and also how to leave on an earlier boat back to Vienna. After her time was over, we had lunch, went in a few stores, enjoyed pastry and coffee at an historic Konditorei and decided to take the early boat back. If you want to delve deeper there are museums and galleries and plenty of time to see them in the extra 3 hours. The trip back was pleasant, air conditioned and calm. Refreshments available for purchase. Dropped us off close to subway station. Vienna public transportation is wonderful! Only issue- our group of maybe 12 were all English speaking except for 2 who spoke German. So she had to say everything twice, which took time. I also think her German was more fluent. Her accent, quieter voice and ambient noise made it a little difficult to hear. I believe her explanations may have been a little more full in German. But all in all a good day and a chance to get a glimpse into the country.

Bratislava is a quaint town. Our guide did a wonderful job explaining the history of the country. We loved the gelato.

The tour itself was good. The guide gave all the relevant information that we needed for the return boat trip to Vienna. One major issue of concern was the minibus trip to Bratislava. There were approximately 25 passengers aboard and it was 25 C outside. No windows open despite there being a roof skylight which was also closed. The trip was about 1 hr 30 mins and when a passenger shouted at the driver to turn on the air conditioning ,he then realised the driver could not hear ANYONE because he was wearing earbuds. Poor show. Otherwise very enjoyable
