A pleasant and efficient way to take in Bratislava. We left promptly from Opera house in a small bus and made it without issue. I enjoyed the Austrian countryside with the wind turbine field and just at border noted the collection of drab Communist era buildings. There was no guide or commentary on the bus. A Slovak native guide met us and guided us around through the old city. She gave a lot of history. She showed us how to upgrade the tour with a tram ride to the castle and also how to leave on an earlier boat back to Vienna. After her time was over, we had lunch, went in a few stores, enjoyed pastry and coffee at an historic Konditorei and decided to take the early boat back. If you want to delve deeper there are museums and galleries and plenty of time to see them in the extra 3 hours. The trip back was pleasant, air conditioned and calm. Refreshments available for purchase. Dropped us off close to subway station. Vienna public transportation is wonderful! Only issue- our group of maybe 12 were all English speaking except for 2 who spoke German. So she had to say everything twice, which took time. I also think her German was more fluent. Her accent, quieter voice and ambient noise made it a little difficult to hear. I believe her explanations may have been a little more full in German. But all in all a good day and a chance to get a glimpse into the country.
Bratislava is a quaint town. Our guide did a wonderful job explaining the history of the country. We loved the gelato.
The tour itself was good. The guide gave all the relevant information that we needed for the return boat trip to Vienna. One major issue of concern was the minibus trip to Bratislava. There were approximately 25 passengers aboard and it was 25 C outside. No windows open despite there being a roof skylight which was also closed. The trip was about 1 hr 30 mins and when a passenger shouted at the driver to turn on the air conditioning ,he then realised the driver could not hear ANYONE because he was wearing earbuds. Poor show. Otherwise very enjoyable
Taking a day trip from Vienna to Bratislava is definitely worth doing. The old city center is great and full of good historical restaurants. The castle has a great museum with artifacts dating back to the Romans and earlier. City Hall also has a very good city history museum. Our local city guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. The only issue we had was that the return catamaran trip was cancelled, but a bus was provided instead.
The tour information does not state that that only one way of the trip is by boat .. the trip from Vienna to Bratislava was by coach . The information was misleading on email received.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the tour description caused confusion regarding the transportation arrangements between Vienna and Bratislava. We would like to clarify that the itinerary and transportation details are clearly stated on our website and in the tour description. It is specified that the journey includes one leg by boat and the other by coach. The same information is also reflected in the booking details provided prior to the tour. (linkt to our website and description: https://www.viennasightseeing.at/en/all-products/bratislava-day-trip-from-vienna-by-bus-and-boat) Nevertheless, we understand that this may not have been sufficiently clear at first glance, and we appreciate your comments as they help us identify where communication can be improved further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
Was what it stated. An easy bus ride to Bratislava. No commentary but relaxing. Bruna was a great guide for the walking tour. Very informative - lots of history and perspectives. Very enjoyable. Finished at 11.40 am and we took a tram tour up to castle - 16 euros - was ok and saw rest of town - would have like to see Blue Church on the tour but saw it ourselves. Took an earlier catamaran back to Vienna for 10 euros extra. Didn’t want to wait till 6.30pm and get back at 8pm. Ideally a 4pm return would have been ideal. Loved boat journey back
The tour guide was difficult to understand and did not share much information about Bratislava. I do not recommend this tour. The tour of the city was finished by 11:30am and there was not much more to see after that, so we paid 10 Euros per person to change our catamaran tickets to the 2:30 pm return to Vienna instead of the 6:30 pm included with the tour. Bratislava was nice, but again, very small for a whole day tour.
Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the tour did not quite meet your expectations and that you had difficulty understanding the guide. We will discuss this with our local partner to improve the experience for future guests. We are also sorry that you did not find any other activities to enjoy during your free time in Bratislava. The city offers a variety of charming cafés, local restaurants, museums, and picturesque spots along the Danube that many visitors enjoy exploring. We hope you will give Bratislava another chance in the future—the city has much to offer beyond the initial city tour. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or suggestions. Best regards, your Vienna Sightseeing Team
Beautiful mountain city , guide Mr Evan was knowledgeable and funny and walking tour was enjoyable. Took a palace tour in the sight seeing coach from the opera and it was helpful in visiting the castle. The return journey by the twin city liner was amazing though we preponed it to 2.30pm for getting a little extra time in Vienna.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback – we are delighted to hear it! Kind regards, Your Vienna Sightseeing Team
The history of Slovakia told in about one and a half hours by tour guide Ivan who made it fun and educational at the same time. More interesting information from the audio in the Oldtimer ride to the castle. Once we were there however, we were given only 20 minutes for exploration, which was totally inadequate given the size of the grounds and the castle itself -- a couple of snapshots, a trip to the WC, then it was time to go back to the vehicle. The free time to explore the old town, we felt, was too long before the 6 pm return trip to Vienna by catamaran. After lunch, we walked the old town, shopped for souvenirs, and went to see the Blue Church, and had coffee in a nice coffee shop, there was nothing left for us to do but wait for the boat for 2 hours. After we finally got our tickets, we were not told by the ticketing person that the seats were numbered and that our group of 4 were seated separately from each other. What a bummer in an otherwise okay trip.
Very nice day trip to a nation’s capital. Wonderful old town. Guide was “ok” … could have been a bit more informational. Note that the bus trip is just transport; no “tour” until arrival. Also it was late in year (mid-Oct) for the Catamaran since it was dark and couldn’t see much along the Danube.
