Zach and Jeremy, our captain and crew were great. They were personable , informative, and easy to talk to. Was a fun an interesting experience.
the trip was fun, sad there weren't much wind but it was still a nice activity away from downtown bustle
Zach was a great captain and the gentleman helping him (French man) was very nice. I do wish there was more information given about the harbor and how the Vikings used the boats etc. it was a bit boring as all we did was sit in the boat. Past reviews mentioned rowing and even some fishing.
A superb experience. Experienced and knowledgeable staff. There were nine of us on the boat. Explored the fjord just outside of Bergen. Really enjoyed the sailing part. Lots of information given about sailing and Bergen. Be aware it is uncovered at all times but we had no problem in rain as had right clothing. Great time!!!
A beautiful way to get out on the water in Bergen. Our crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were fortunate to have gorgeous weather.
We had a wonderful time! Zack was a wonderful captain. He had good information to share but also gave us plenty of time to just take in the scenery. He allowed our kids 12, 10, and 6) to try fishing. We also appreciated that the boat capacity was only about a dozen people. It made for a fun, intimate experience away the crowds.
This was in the end entertaining for a number of reasons - (a) A chance to really set sail on a replica of a Viking small fjord vessel (b) A sense of the shipbuilding and the technology and limitations of 1,000 years ago (c) An engaging crew that sincerely is interested to provide a relaxed and customized experience Note: This is not a serious historical nor structured educational experience - and 1.5 hours is about right for a short duration holiday/vacation 'thing to do' trip. You have to give a lot of respect to what the Vikings pioneered and further a sense of just how challenging life was like back then. This is a unique experience, and if you have a few hours in Bergen and looking for something different to see you should consider to see through the eyes of a Viking what life is like on board one of these ships.
Very Disappointing – Felt Misled and Ignored We joined the Viking Voyages tour with high expectations, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The tour was led by two Americans who lacked knowledge about Norway’s history. They briefly mentioned the Vikings for less than two minutes and spent the rest of the time chatting about their personal lives, which had nothing to do with the tour. The tour advertised a fishing experience, which was one of the main reasons we booked. Our kids were really looking forward to it, but instead of any real activity, the guide casually said we might as well just buy fish from the market. It was a complete letdown. We paid 4400 NOK for 4 adults and 2 children and felt completely scammed. I emailed them asking for at least a partial refund, but they never replied. Ignoring customer feedback after such a poor experience only made it worse. I don’t recommend this tour at all – it was unprofessional, uninformative, and not worth the cost.
Captains Zac and Mariah give you the opportunity to immerse yourself into a truly authentic Viking experience. Raise the sail, fish for mackerel, or simply relax during the fun and informative sail. A Bergen highlight!!
The boat was cute. The captain seemed knowledgeable and was norweigen and funny. We wished we could have heard more information about sailing and even living in Norway or Vikings from him. Instead, we hear from a volunteer about politics in US. Make it an experience about Norway, that is why we are here. Also, addressing the whole group on the boat about information about the area or sailing instead of side conversations. We spent a lot of money on an experience. I would tell others to find another.
