チェコ王の戴冠式行列が旧市街に入ったこの記念碑的な入り口は、後期ゴシック様式のプラハの最も重要なモニュメントの 1 つです。 1475 年に完成したパウダー ゲート タワーは、以前は火薬庫として使用されていましたが、今でもプラハ城への戴冠式またはロイヤル ルートの出発点となっています。展望台は高さ44m。
この時計は 1410 年に初めて設置され、世界で 3 番目に古い天文時計であり、現在も使用されている最古の時計です。
プラハで最も古い橋は、1342 年の洪水でひどく損傷したジュディス橋を置き換えるために建設されました。新しい橋の建設は、もともとストーン ブリッジまたはプラハ橋と呼ばれ、カレル 4 世の後援の下で 1357 年に始まり、1402 年に完成しました。 1870 年、橋はカレル橋と呼ばれました。砂岩のブロックでできており、両端に要塞化された塔 (レッサー タウン ブリッジ タワー、オールド タウン ブリッジ タワー) が並んでいます。 1683 年から 1928 年にかけて、橋を飾るために 30 体の聖人像が彫られました。その中で最も有名なのはネポムクの聖ヨハネ像です。

Friends from Bratislava came to see us. I myself did not dare to show them Prague with the whole story. I contacted a professional guide and used their service. They guided us through the historical center, we tasted Czech beer, went for lunch and listened to the commentary of a pleasant guide. Although I thought I knew Prague, I learned a lot of information about history, architecture, culture, and I'm glad that the trip was organized by professionals.
