Had a fantastic whale-watching trip in Sydney! The narrator was extremely knowledgeable and made the experience really interesting and enjoyable. The ride was also surprisingly smooth, so a big shout-out to the driver as well. Highly recommend this experience!

Took awhile to wait for the best moment but it’s all worth it! We’re super lucky to see a momma and her baby breach couple times.

It’s beautiful as you sail out of the harbour for views, but it does get very choppy. Take seasickness tablets before! The staff were exceptional! Emily, Johnno and Juan - all very kind, and especially when the entire family was unwell. We got to see whales and it was magnificent! Emily knew so much about them. Highly recommend this company for whale watching in Sydney!!

Such a fun and memorable experience! The whale watching trip gave us amazing views of the Sydney coastline, and seeing the whales out in the open ocean was absolutely incredible. The boat ride itself was exciting, and the whole experience was well worth it. Definitely a must-do in Sydney!

Really disappointed with our experience this time. My partner and I came on Whale Tales last year and it was amazing, which is exactly why we booked again for this visit — but this trip was a completely different story. It started badly right at the dock, which was an absolute shambles. There were two boats and no one seemed to know who was supposed to be on which one. It was clear there was also a difference in quality between the two boats, which didn't inspire much confidence before we'd even left the dock. Once on board, there was a general lack of care and effort from the crew throughout the trip. Most of them spent their time hanging out at the front of the boat chatting among themselves rather than engaging with passengers. It felt like nobody actually cared about giving us a good experience — more like they were just tired and going through the motions. We did see whales, which was obviously the highlight, and I understand these are wild animals so sightings aren't guaranteed. But the whole thing felt less like a guided tour and more like we just tagged along behind another boat that had found them first. There was zero effort put into making it feel like an actual excursion. At $149 a ticket, this was not worth the money. Based on this visit alone, I wouldn't recommend it and we won't be going back — such a shame given how great our first experience was.

We spontaneously booked the 2 September 12:00noon trip. Three young ladies greeted us and gave a safety briefing - unfortunately, we don't remember their names - our apologies. From the start, it was clear that all three were awesome, fun, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. We didn't need to worry about taking pictures, as one of the ladies was the trip photographer, and the next day, we received beautiful pictures. This was an amazing adventure. We highly recommend it to everyone! We saw a momma humpback with her calf. We saw a male humpback. They were all breaching and we took a ton of pictures. They were slapping the water and showing off. Everyone on the Cheeky Monkey were very friendly, helpful and had so much knowledge of the whales. It was worth everything to see these majestic whales. Took my breath away! The picture provided to us are incredible!!

We lucked out with the waters being relatively calm so there was a lower risk of sea sickness. Even so the tour operator assured us that there were entry of sick bags on hand. The tour itself was fun and informative. Even though we didn't quite get to see as many whales as we had initially thought we accept that with nature things will be unpredictable. The tour operator did a fantastic job with spotting whales and keeping up with them once they have been sighted. They kept a respectable distance from the animals and yet close enough for us to take good pictures of our own. To be honest, it was enough for me to have been able to see such creatures in the wild even if they don't fully jump out of the water to greet us (please don't have this expectation when you go on any whale watching tours). Highly recommend this tour and would love to go again at a different time. For the record we went at 12noon.
