The pilot let me sit upfront with him because I was solo. He even took videos of me as the copilot! Then during the safari, the tour guides were very knowledgeable and kind. We saw lions playing and mating, elephants, and many other animals. It was really the perfect safari day. Lunch was also great. Thank you to Rafael

A very average experience with delays and a significant lack of organization, although the teams were very kind and welcoming. Regarding the provider itself, instead of apologizing, it justifies all these shortcomings, which was quite unfortunate. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to see elephants, tigers, and leopards because the park is extremely large. Clearly not the best safari in Tanzania.

Very good despite a last-minute change. But we were well advised over the phone. The guide was excellent. They did everything to ensure that we ended up seeing the lions. I recommend it.

My partner and I booked this through Viator as an excursion during our Zanzibar holiday, communication from the point of booking - collection was good and the process clear. We were picked up at 4am by the driver with another couple already on board. We were driven to the airport (not the main international airport) and waited in a café area with many other people, there are lots of tables and chairs so seating was not a problem. After a short time we were taken to the check in of the airport, we checked in and went through security, this took around 10 mins, we then went into the waiting area for our flight to be called, there are seats, toilets and a small snack stall in this area. When our flight was called we were walked out to our plane, this was a small but comfortable plane, the journey took around 30mins and we landed in the airstrip of the national park (I saw 3 Giraffe before we even landed). Once we disembarked the plane there were many guides with lists of people, we found our driver (Charles or King Charles as we called him) and we met the other people in our group, there was 7 of us in total on the jeep. The Jeep was very very comfy which is exactly what you need when you are sitting for long periods of time. Charles was very informative, friendly and we couldn't have asked for a better group or driver! Driving around we got to see many many animals Such as Giraffe, Lions, Elephants, Hippo, Zebra, Hyena, Warthog, Buffalo, Kudu, Baboons, Smaller monkeys and different species of Birds. We were reminded that there is no guarantee to see these animals as they roam free, so I felt we were very lucky. There was only 1 part I felt uncomfortable with, spotting the rarer animals is a big thing and all the drivers keep in touch over radios so when the animal is spotted other cars can also go there, this part is fine and I think a great idea, however on 2 occasions (Lion & Elephant) we were off to the side out of the way of the animals but the other cars ended up almost circling the animal, you could see the lion for example looked worried and the elephant cowered when a vehicles engine started, the only thing I would ask the company to look at is this process, I think if the cars were lined up or stayed back until another car left this would be less stressful on those animals, however as I said above I do understand why they do this, as it is to get the best experience for those attending, but it made me feel uncomfortable. we stopped by the watering hole for some tea and coffee with little snacks and then continued with the ride. later on we had lunch in an area which has toilets, lunch was in an area with a roof but no sides and was very very tasty. unfortunately the heavens opened during this time but the quick thinking drivers moved their jeeps to block the rain around the sides. after lunch we continued the drive on the look out for different animals and then we were taken back to the airstrip for our flight home. Charles was a great guide and the day was truly memorable. the we arrived at the Airstrip at 7am and were taken back around 4pm. Well worth the money for such a great experience!

We went on a day safari to Selous during our stay in Zanzibar, and it was truly an amazing experience to remember. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and executed. A huge thank you to our incredible guide Edgar and our skilled driver Pregod — they were incredible…

I cannot rate this experience highly enough. We were promptly picked up from our hotel for the trip to the airport and the flight was on time. Staff were very polite and professional and the flight was smooth. No sooner had We landed at Selous Game Reserve we were introduced to our guide Frank and driver Abdul and shown to our jeep. Their knowledge of the park and animals was first class. The guides all communicated with each other informing them where animals were located to ensure we got the best experience. The animals were in abundance and we got so close to them. An African elephant even came over to our jeep to say hello. It is an experience that will live with me forever for all the right reasons. If you are pondering over booking, please just do it. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

We took off from our Hotel The Mora at 3:45 am, an hour drive to arrive at 4:45 am at Zanzibar Airport where we were able to have lunch in a bar while waiting for other travelers. We took a small plane around 6am, a little apprehension quickly dissipated because it was very good. Destination Selous, where we landed on clay around 7am, directly in the park, spotless landing. Travel in 4x4 with a guide speaking French. We saw plenty of animals including some of the big five (buffalo, elephants and lions). The guides prepared us breakfast and lunch. We took off around 5pm from the park to return at 6pm to Zanzibar. Everything goes very well in one day. Some sleep on site but I think one day is already very good in this park. The vegetation was dense and we really enjoyed it. Nor are we scholars in search of all the animals which is surely why one day was enough for us. We came home tired but satisfied.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish! Would definitely recommend this one day safari when holidaying in Zanzibar! Our guide, Nelson, and driver, Mohamoud, were so professional and knowledgeable. They made the day an unforgettable experience, one we will treasure for the rest of our lives. We were lucky enough to see most of the beautiful creatures who live in the park, more than once too. The food, hygiene and safety were all great. The jeep (which looked brand new) was very comfortable too. Also great communication from the person handling the excursion on WhatsApp. We had a decent size airplane and a very competent pilot that landed us on a well maintained airstrip. Don’t hesitate, book it!!

He knew the terrain, wildlife, and even the best spots for photos. The game drives were exciting and we saw so many animals up close. We even got to witness the Great Migration in the Serengeti, which was the highlight of our trip. The camps & ATA Safaris Lodge were amazing—comfortable, with excellent service and food. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
