If you are coming to Cape Town and want to see the city with someone who genuinely loves his country, book Joseph. You will not regret it. My brother and I were first-time visitors to Cape Town, and we spent an entire day exploring with Joseph from Mwebuntu Cape Town Guided Tours. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel at 9 AM, we knew we were in for a good day. Instead of the traditional handshake, Joseph greeted us with a hug, which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the adventure. Joseph is warm, calm, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly very proud of Cape Town and South Africa. I have traveled all over the world, and as a woman traveling with my brother, feeling safe and comfortable with your guide matters tremendously. I never once had a concern with Joseph. He made us feel like we were spending the day with a friend who just happened to know absolutely everything about Cape Town. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. 😂 I felt like a child asking him question after question, and somehow he always had an interesting answer. He didn’t just tell us what we were looking at. What do the license plates mean? What is the cost of living in Cape Town neighborhoods? He explained the history of the neighborhoods, the cultural divisions, how those communities evolved, and how Cape Town has changed over time. He has a real gift for storytelling, and his laugh is infectious. Every time he would get to the good part of a story and start laughing, we would all end up laughing with him. We made numerous stops throughout the day, and Joseph was incredibly patient with us. There was never any feeling of being rushed. We could take our time, explore, enjoy the views, and take as many pictures as we wanted. And speaking of pictures… I am convinced that in a previous life, Mr. Joseph was a professional photographer. 😂 He somehow knew exactly where to stand, how to position us, and where to find the best views. We left with SO many great photos that I’m now going to have a very difficult time deciding which ones actually make it into the review. One of my favorite parts of the day was visiting Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Joseph showed us around like he was taking us through his own neighborhood, and then pointed us toward the lighthouse at the top of the mountain. The views were absolutely incredible. We also had a fantastic lunch where we got to slow down a little and hear more about Joseph’s personal experiences and home life. That conversation made the day feel even more personal. We weren’t just checking tourist attractions off a list. We were getting to know the person who was showing us his home. And then came the penguins! Joseph handled that experience like a professional. He knew exactly how to navigate the area so we could avoid the longest queues and still get an amazing experience. We saw at least 20 penguins along the boardwalk, and once again, Joseph made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy it and take pictures. Our day started at 9 AM and we didn’t get back to our hotel until around 5 PM, but somehow it never felt like we had spent eight hours in a car or on a tour. It felt like an adventure with someone who genuinely wanted us to experience Cape Town, not just see it. Every moment was memorable. Joseph, thank you for your patience, your stories, your infectious laugh, your incredible knowledge, your pride in your country, and yes, your very impressive photography skills. 😂 You helped make our first visit to Cape Town something we will talk about for a very long time. I would not hesitate for one second to recommend Joseph and Mwebuntu Cape Town Guided Tours to my friends, family, or anyone coming to Cape Town in the future. Great day. Driver Andrew was excellent and we were able to make this tour exactly what we wanted. Only downside was as a group of 6, the car was on the cosy side, but for smaller groups who want to tailor their own day it would be perfect
