If you come across this in your search of things to do in Portland, Maine, BOOK IT! Dugan is one of the best tour guides I've experienced and you are in for a treat. It was a small group, we were able to ask questions, I learned more than I thought I would about Maine's roles in Black history. Would recommend to anyone! Just wear some walking shoes and be ready to be surprised with info!

Informative and interesting. Dugan has done a lot of research to put this and other walking tours together. We learned about many of Portland, Maine’s black community members from colonial times with links to the present. A great way to spend two hours learning about the town in which we live.

The Portland by foot Black History tour is a wonderful tour. Dugan has a vast knowledge of Portland's Black History and beyond and he loves to share it. We learned a lot. My wife and I are a little older. But were able to make the walk with no problems. We really enjoyed the tour. This was actually our second tour with Portland by the foot. We also went on the Portland History tour.

I thought it was a great, very in depth look at Black history through the century in Portland. My guide Dugan took his time to careful explain how ghe African American population influenced Portland. He happily answered questions. He did a wonderful job with his presentation along with the pictures he displayed the locations during specific time periods.
