The Coba, Monkey Reserve and Cenote was easily the highlight of our family's recent trip to Cancun. In one day, we climbed a temple, did a bike tour, ate an amazing authentic Mayan influenced meal, saw monkeys, ziplined across a canyon, and swam in a Cenote. The best part of the experience was our guide, Axel, who is passionate about Mayan archeology and civilization. He was able to answer all of our questions about the various sites as well as Mexican culture, in general. We have been on several great, private tours in Mexico and Europe and this was by far the best. Given the number of things that we were able to accomplish, I felt that this was a very good value. We hope to do future excursions with Jaguar and Axel.

We cannot recommend Jaguar Journey highly enough. Axel and Marvis picked up our family of 5 (kids ages 14, 12, & 6) from our resort and treated us with the warmest hospitality throughout the day. We started with a visit to Coba, where Axel brought history to life with his engaging way of explaining the structures. We rented bikes and rode through the expansive area to see multiple sites. We loved biking through the jungle as we explored the ancient city. Afterwards, we were served lunch by a Mayan family, which was probably our favorite meal of our entire vacation. We made tortillas by hand and enjoyed the most authentic food that was made specifically for our family. Finally, we explored a monkey sanctuary and saw spider monkeys in the wild, ziplined through the jungle, and explored a cenote. Axel was a fantastic guide, who not only is incredibly knowledgeable about Mayan and Mexican history, but is also very personable and kept our kids engaged the entire day. After our awesome experience with Axel, we ultimately booked 2 more excursions with him during our time there (posted in separate reviews). All 3 days were the highlights of our trip!

Simply cannot say enough positive things about Jaguar Journeys! When we came to Cancun, we were looking for a personalised tour experience that would take us down the beaten path and give us a locals-like perspective of Cancun. We were recommended Jaguar Journeys through an online travel friend and so glad we chose them. Axel met us at the hotel with private transportation and plenty of snacks and drinks. At our tour spots, Axel smoothly took care of all of the details such as park permits and bike rentals and made it super easy for us to sit back and enjoy the beauty around us. Our favorite parts of the tour were the lunch with a local Mayan family and our tour of the Laguna monkey reserve where we also got to repel down into a beautiful cenote. Reflecting on the tour a few months later, we still cherish these experiences and look on them fondly. Take this as your sign to book that tour; you will not regret it! The next time we are in Cancun, we will be sure to join Vanessa and Axel on a tour again!

Amazing experience for the adults and nine and 11-year-old boys. Infinitely better than any of the big bus tours. we loved having our own van for the whole day and a dedicated driver. From the start, that just made things so much easier, including making a coffee stop at a locals favorite place on our way to Cobá. I have been to Cobá before and walked around on my own, but the experience was completely different having Axel, he gave us the background and context and historical significance of so many of the sites. He did it in a way that not only taught us a lot, but kept the boys interested and engaged. He took us to lunch with a Mayan family. The food was incredible but more amazing was the experience of learning about the Mayan culture and meeting a local family. Our last stop was the monkey reserve and the boys again were so engaged and we learned so much while having such a great time. All of our stops were catered to tourists but I felt that the focus was fun, learning, engagement, and a great experience. We did not run into any big bus groups and we were not pressured into any extra purchases - we just had fun together as a family and Axel was amazing. I will absolutely be hiring Axel for our next adventure to Cancun.

Our tour included touring Chichen-Itza, lunch with a Mayan family in their home, and a swim in a nearby Cenote. This private tour was a first-class experience from our initial contact and booking to our drop-off back at the resort. Axel was professional and thought of everything to give us a five-star experience! His vehicle was clean, cool, and stocked with a cooler- iced-down with water, Cervasa, and other snacks for the day's adventure. His knowledge of the region and history was impressive and his passion for the Mayan culture is so genuine, you will feel like you are a part of this ancient and still thriving community. Axel and Vanessa provide convenient communication and booking options and use multiple apps and sites to explore tour options, photos, and guest reviews. After we booked our tour with just a 25% deposit, they were available for us to reach out to with any questions we had before our trip. Axel is friendly, funny, and a safe driver, but above all, he is an expert in the country's history and ancient culture. We will book private tours with Jaguar Journey on every visit to Cancun-Mayan Rivera.

I went back to the Cancun area with my best friend this time. Of course I had to contact Jaguar Journey for tour recommendations. We did the Monkey Sanctuary and Coba ruins tour. Axl was superrrrr knowledgeable about the ruins and the history of the Mayans. We rode bikes around the ruins while learning and taking in the incredible structures. After the ruin tour, we went to a local Mayan family’s home to have a homemade lunch. Mrs. Josefina and Mr. Emilio made the best pork I have ever had! It was a pleasure to be invited into their home. Then we jumped into a beautiful cenote where we were the only people. The monkey sanctuary was great, the monkeys are cute and the zipline was so fast!! To end the monkey sanctuary portion we canoed across a beautiful lake. Jaguar Journey has so many unique tour options. Even if you don’t see exactly what you’d like to do they can curate the perfect outing or multiday trip for you!

We had a wonderful tour with Axel and Vanessa, they are kind persons, they show us the real Mayan culture to us, we visited an amazing archaeological zone, we drove a bicycle to explore around, saw monkeys that was incredible and the highlight of our experience was that we know a very special family and tried the traditional food that they prepared for us. I really recommend this tour, was a life experience!!!!
