We are thrilled to have been able to take a day trip to Xi’an to see the Terra cotta soldiers. It was the highlight of our trip to China. Being foreigners, we loved the peace of mind of being picked up from our hotel and personally escorted onto the bullet train. The operator gave us great instructions (that included pictures!!) of how to exit the train and where our next guide would meet us. He was right there approaching us and everything worked perfectly. Flying back allowed us extra time in the city so we could see the city walls. That was very nice bonus with this itinerary. The highlight was of course, the Terra cotta soldiers. We were guided through all three pits and then we were given free time in the museum which had even more soldiers we could see up close. We were brought back to the airport and accompanied up to security. Upon arriving back in Beijing our original driver (not the escort) was there waving at us. Again, perfect. He took us back to the hotel. A long day, but sooooo worth it!
