I had a fantastic experience with Cambridge Rowing Experience. The three-hour session flew by because it was so engaging and well organised. Omar was an excellent coach and leader. Everything was explained clearly, making it easy to learn even as a beginner. We spent time on the ergs, learned how to safely handle, lift and launch a rowing boat, and gained a good understanding of rowing technique. A real highlight was getting the opportunity to row in an eight-person boat on the same day. It was great fun and gave us a real taste of rowing on the river. Overall, it was a superb experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying rowing for the first time.

My son attended the rowing experience course for youths age 13-18 in August and thoroughly enjoyed it. They learned not only how to row in an 8-boat and compete for fun but were also taught the various ethics of rowing, maintenance for the boats and protocol in the team environment. We will be returning. Highly recommend, no previous experience is necessary.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Rowing Experience on the River Cam! What a fantastic experience! A huge thank you to Omar and Cambridge Rowing Experience for organising such a brilliant afternoon for a group of us Cambourne dads. For most of us, rowing was something completely new, but Omar made everyone feel welcome and comfortable from the start. Everything was explained clearly and with plenty of humour, and it didn’t take long before we were out on the River Cam trying to row together — with varying degrees of success! 😂🚣‍♂️ What I particularly loved was that you really don’t need any previous rowing experience or a certain level of fitness to enjoy it. Omar creates a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable having a go. It was a perfect combination of learning something new, being active, spending time with friends and having plenty of laughs along the way. Experiencing Cambridge and the River Cam from a rowing boat also gives you a completely different perspective. Omar’s passion for rowing is obvious, and he genuinely wants everyone to enjoy the experience. He was patient, knowledgeable and great fun throughout. I would highly recommend Cambridge Rowing Experience to anyone looking for something different to do with a group of friends. We had a brilliant time and came away with some great memories — although I suspect a few of us will be discovering some new muscles tomorrow morning! 😂 Thanks again, Omar. As a beginner I didn’t know what to expect but from the start Thea and Arthur made us feel very welcome. They were very thorough with the training and checks and excellent at going over instructions so we all felt very safe and confident in their hands. With eight of us in the boat it was a team effort and Thea was fabulous as the cox giving us instructions, lots of praise & teaching us new speeds and how to turn the boat around. Arthur followed us on the bike and told us from the river bank how we could get better, taking pictures and shouting words of encouragement. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and loved gliding up the River Cam. I would really recommend this three hour course to anyone wanting to experience rowing. It was very good value and the crew very competent and professional.

I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. It’s rare to find a river like the Cam and a place like Cambridge Rowing Experience where anyone have the opportunity to be safely on the river in a boat just over an hour after arriving - even with zero experience. The river is calm and shallow. This area is uniquely positioned, so do not miss this opportunity. For visiting rowers, this is also a fun way to get on the water.

The entire experience was thoughtfully designed to very approachable, not at all intimidating to someone with no familiarity with boats or rowing clubs. Omar walked us through each step, from erg machines to being on the water, with so much calm and patience, making it easy to enjoy every moment. With his guidance, rowing on the River Cam felt amazing!

Great morning out on the river Cam. It was a great whistle stop introduction into rowing. Starting with a quick warm up on the indoor machines to get familiar with the stroke before putting that into practice in a group of 8 on the water. Definitely an experience worth participating in while in Cambridge.
