Today, Fawzi picked us up from our hotel in Muscat. He arrived right on time and was waiting for us in the lobby. At first glance, Fawzi was very polite, respectful, and above all, funny. He had prepared two bottles of water for us in the car. During the long 2.5-hour drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, we talked about all kinds of things happening in the world. Fawzi has a very broad general knowledge and is up to date with what is currently happening around the world. It is also worth mentioning that, compared to many other Omanis we have met, Fawzi speaks very good English. And one thing that definitely has to be mentioned: he is a very cheerful, positive, and fun person. When we arrived at Wadi Bani Khalid, he gave us plenty of time to explore the area and go swimming. Afterwards, we headed to the main attraction — the desert. And we have to say, this trip is absolutely worth doing! Watching the sunset from a sand dune in the middle of the desert was simply magical. We would highly recommend this trip to everyone, and if you get Fawzi as your tour guide, you are twice as lucky! Our amazing guide, Mohammed, made this trip absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we met him, he was warm, engaging, and incredibly friendly. He patiently answered all of our questions and shared fascinating insights about Oman's history, culture, and traditions. Our group of four set off with Mohammed on a comfortable two-hour drive to the breath taking Wahiba Desert. Along the way, we visited a traditional Bedouin home, where we were welcomed with genuine Omani hospitality. We enjoyed fresh dates and authentic Omani coffee. As someone who doesn't usually drink black coffee, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and flavourful it was. Once we reached the desert, we ventured into the magnificent golden sand dunes. We had plenty of time to climb the dunes, admire the spectacular panoramic views, and capture countless photos of the stunning landscape. The scenery was simply breath taking and unlike anything we had ever experienced. Our final stop was the beautiful Wadi Bani Khalid, a picturesque oasis with crystal-clear turquoise water surrounded by dramatic mountains. We had ample time to swim, relax, and take in the peaceful surroundings. It was the perfect way to end an incredible day and was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the tour.
