Fascinating Walk Back in Time with an Architect Ahead of His Time
I really enjoyed visiting the Hospital de Sant Pau and learning how the hospital was originally designed and operated. It is fascinating to visit on the same day as the Palau de la Música Catalana as the same architect designed both.
The exhibits did a very good job of helping us picture what life there would have been like. The use of video projected onto the walls, original-style hospital beds, photographs and other visual elements made the history much easier to imagine.
The self-guided pamphlet was also helpful in leading us through the buildings and exhibits in the right order. It would be helpful if this pamphlet included a short summary of each area before visitors enter it - just a few sentences on the handout explaining, for example, the operating room, the wards, or what that particular building was used for. We found ourselves using AI to get that broader context before reading the individual information cards inside the rooms (do a quick Google or ChatGPT search before you enter each building to better understand what you are walking into).
Overall, though, it was a fascinating place to visit and gave us a much better understanding of both the hospital’s design and what it would have been like when it was in use.

Great visit to do
A real gem, the visit to this hospital was super interesting and the Gaudí architecture is absolutely magnificent, the place was fairly uncrowded and the visit is very pleasant, it was one of my best during my trip to Barcelona. Really a must-do

Here you must have been
I can't believe this gem gets so little attention. Beautiful place, an old hospital. That way you recover, what a rest

We had a problem
The place is spectacular, beautiful and too modern. We had a problem. We were told we could go out and go back. When we returned they charged new entrance. We find it dishonest!

Very nice
The old hospital of Sant Pau should be one of the three essential of a visit to Barcelona after the Sagrada and the Parc Guell. The old hospital has been restored with great care. The buildings are superb and retrace the history of this establishment. A must for a visit to Barcelona.

Hospital Sant Pau
Falling by chance in front of this building during our visit to Barcelona, we opened the door and came across an extraordinary building.
If you are in the neighborhood, or if you are visiting the city, I strongly recommend this monument that traces the beginning of the Barcelona hospital.
With a rate of €18 per person, and a minimum duration of 1h30, it is a good Price quality ratio.

Hidden pearl
What a beautiful place! As far as I'm concerned, a hidden gem in the middle of the city.
After 14h cheaper rate, children under 12 free. Good to do with a stroller, elevators available and clean toilets including changing place for babies.
Buildings themselves not all accessible, but from the outside all to admire. Piece of hospital hall in tact and all kinds of old soul house tools.
Totally not crowded, and that at 200m distance from the mega busy Sagrada familia. This was so much nicer. Children could discover the place for themselves without fear of being lost in the crowds. Plein lovely to stroll and run.

Beste gast,
Hartelijke groet,
