We really enjoyed this tour and saw a lot in a relatively short amount of time. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative, and did a great job making the experience enjoyable.
That said, be prepared for a lot of walking—and I mean a LOT! It’s definitely something to keep in mind when deciding if this tour is right for you. Also, the tour guide does not meet you at the cruise ship. You’ll need to take the free shuttle bus or a taxi to the designated meeting point, so allow some extra time for that.
Overall, it was a very nice tour and a great way to see the area, especially if you’re comfortable with plenty of walking.

A Great Three Hour Walking Tour
Our host, Raphael, was engaging, friendly, and ensured that the tour reflected our interests. Not knowing what to expect, we were extremely pleased with our guide, who we enjoyed tremendously. His love for and knowledge of the city were clearly evident throughout the tour.

Fabulous walking tour with Virginie. She was personable and funny and filled to the brim with information about Marseille. Lots of walking and lots of learning - our favorite kind of tour. Would highly recommend.

Don’t Bother Unless You Just Want To Be Walked Around
This was a very disappointing “private tour”. The guide, Virginia, was not particularly prepared and we had to find her after several messages and calls. A frustrating start! Then, she walked some 3 meters in front of us for the longest time. She was very nice and from Belgium, not France, but again, not prepared. We thought we had paid for a high-quality tour but instead received a mediocre, not so informative walk around a couple of areas. I really don’t recommend!!

An excellent tour!
This was a wonderful tour! Virginie contacted us beforehand to clarify what we wanted to see. She arrived outside our hotel very promptly to start our 4-hour tour. She was well-organized and took us to many out-of-the-way places, as well as major area highlights. She was personable, interesting, and very knowledgeable of the city; she gave us great tips for sightseeing to maximize our remaining time in Marseille.

An exceptional visit 🤩
A guided tour of Marseille, simply exceptional! We were immersed in a real historical immersion, tracing with passion and clarity the evolution of the city, from its origins to today. Every step was alive, captivating, and perfectly paced — you can’t see time passing. The guide was able to pass on his knowledge with enthusiasm, making the story accessible and exciting. A real treat from start to finish, without ever picking up: we lost nothing, quite the contrary! An enriching experience that I highly recommend!

We had an amazing tour...
We had an amazing tour with Jean Gabriel. His passion for the city allowed us to get a true understanding of its history and culture. We really appreciated Jean Gabriel tailoring the tour to us. A lot of walking but worth every step. We visited several shops and a tasty stop for hot chocolate (yum). We highly recommend Jean Gabriel.
