I went on this tour with my wife and 6yo daughter and we had a fantastic experience! Alejandro was right on time picking us up and we had a great time getting to know each other and learning about the manuel antonio/quepos area. Cara provided lots of really tasty chocolates and did a wonderful job teaching us about growing cacao in costa rica and the chocolate making process. We all had a blast getting our hands all chocolately and making our own chocolate candies. The waterfall was beautiful and a great way to relax and cool off while our chocolates were setting. And the lunch was excellent! Highly recommend this experience! And extra special thanks to Cara and Alejandro for helping our daughter have a fantastic time celebrating her birthday.

I highly recommend this tour because it was both educational & fun. We learned so much about growing & processing cacao, and the tastings were incredible. The lovely open air tasting area is magical. The lunch at a neighbor's home was a real highlight.

Amazing experience learning about chocolate and the history of Costa Rica’s chocolate industry. The owner is great. The place was beautiful. The biggest surprise and one of the highlights of our trip was the river experience…we jumped off the rocks and floated down the river. It was fun for all. To end the experience we had lunch at a local family’s house and she made a killer “Casado” for us. For a group of 8, we had the entire place to ourselves. We had fun trying chocolates and making truffles. The tea from cacau beans was awesome.

We had an amazing experience! The chocolate-making experience with Cara was a highlight. She was friendly and knowledgeable. It was hands-on, and our older son enjoyed cooking the cacao beans (which were locally grown) and grinding the dried beans into cacao paste. We all made chocolate truffles with a lot of ingredients to choose from. Doing all this surrounded by the mountain forests was next level. Alberto, who guided us down a short hike to the Naranjo River, was great. He was patient, friendly, and prioritized safety with our kids. He kept our younger child engaged when he started to get bored on the hike by pointing out and talking about the plants and animals we saw. He was encouraging without being pushy, and helped me get over my fear of jumping off a boulder into the water. The home-cooked lunch was delicious, and making fresh tortillas from maíz was a nice touch. We were well taken care of throughout. Highly recommend — we would definitely do it again.

Unexpected Pleasure, Loved it! I wasn't sure what chocolate, water falls and a home cooked lunch had to offer but I must say our group of 8 really enjoyed the mix of local offerings and adventure. Antonio our guide for the day made us feel very at ease and went far beyond your average tour guide. Very responsive, informative and yet not "scripted" as many guides can be. Best described as highly intuitive, kind, and welcoming. Carrie our Chocolatier clearly loved her work and lived her passion. Our tree top chocolate making was fun very relaxed and delicious. Dona Luz our home cooked lunch host could not have been more real. Our meal was so authentic fresh and yummy. Just like a favorite abuelita's house. Food you will remember forever and miss.

The whole experience was a joy. There were ten of us- 3 generations. Picked up by Alberto who informed us about what we were seeing on our way there- including his home village. We were greeted by Kara, the owner of the center, who gave us a fun and informative understanding of how chocolate is made- topped off by making our own chocolate truffles. Then a walk to the waterfall where we waded in the pool at the base. And finally the day was topped off by a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch at Dona Luz's house.

We fully enjoyed our experience thanks to Leo and Cara who were wonderful and sincere hosts. The lunch was a home-cooked meal shared with local neighbours - the most delicious meal we had in Costa Rica (we even learned how to make Tortillas)! We explored the waterfall and nearby forest for bird watching and fossils observation. Then we joined a chocolate-making workshop guided by Cara - tasted hand-made chocolates from local farm-to-bar and Indigenous-owned chocolate makers. We enjoyed our experience so much and highly recommend tours by Luna Vita!

I am very delayed in getting my review posted, I think I have been in denial that we had to come back to the states as our Costa Rican vacation came to an end. This chocolate tour was FANTASTIC and for me was one of the highlights of our trip. Out in the country, so much nature & wildlife, lots of butterflies, plants that we weren't seeing 'in town'. Just gorgeous! We got to make chocolate, chocolate tea, swim in a might as well have been private waterfall, make tortillas and eat a phenomenal homemade meal. 100% would go back again and again to do this excursion and our tour guide Alberto Soto with Luna Vida Adventures was completely AMAZING. Such a warm, genuine soul, full of stories and tips about the area. This is a MUST DO!

We love our day learning all the steps of chocolate making! So interesting! Cara was great and very informative! Tasting each step of the process and ending with our own chocolates (4/5) to take home! The property is stunning and beautiful! A stunning place to visit! She has glamping (for up to 20, 4 separate yurts) Yoga platform too! Perfect for retreats! And they are adding a whole new section soon to be finished. After chocolates, we changed clothes and went for a waterfall dip just a few steps down on the Naranje river. After a short van ride (2min) we were taken for a delicious Costa Rican lunch, and got to make our own corn tortillas! Alberto was our driver and he gave us a lot of culture info as well. A very unique and fun day making memories of our stay here in Costa Rica!!
