The best thing to do is to do the tour early morning as you walk up to the top then listen to the guide during the walk down. She was professional, intelligent, and humorous . Her name is Niobe and she’s a GEM.
Booked a private mythology tour of the Acropolis for my friend and I. Vicki was amazing! She explained in detail every site we saw on the Acropolis and even took us to some nearby sites as well. She was extremely friendly and informative and took a bunch of pictures of us without question! She even let me keep her Athens fan as a souvenir :)
The beginning of the tour was fantastic, learning about ancient Greek democratic practices, philosophy and Socrates. But by the time we got up to the Acropolis, it was packed with people and the tour resembled the crowd - jumbled, overloaded, hard to follow. It felt more like a data dump. She could have reduced content by half, and focused more on story-telling, particularly for kids. But, she was super knowledgable, patient and funny. I would really recommend going to the Acropolis Museum before climbing up there, to give you a sense of what the place looked like.

As you requested, we designed the itinerary to be of interest to kids, and that is why we suggested tours that excluded the Acropolis museum but included other significant landmarks such as the Pnyx and Socrates' Prison, which we find are more engaging for children. However, we would like to reiterate that since it is a private tour, it could be further customized to fit your specific needs should you wish to make any changes even during the tour. Regarding your comments about the Acropolis, we understand that it can be a crowded location, and we take measures to ensure that our guests can still enjoy the experience, like providing earsets so you can always hear even when it is crowded. We also provide the option to book the tour at different times, such as the afternoon when it could be less crowded. Great walking tour, very informative & interesting, thank you Sissy. You probably need to allow another hour at least once the tour finishes, to have a good walk around the Acropolis & take photos. Sissy was great because she stopped & explained things on the way up meaning a bit of a rest & shade! 100% worth it
