The tour itself takes approximately two hours to complete. It is quite hilly on the island, but they do offer assistance with mobility issues. It is self guided via a pre recorded tour. Not a lot to see however except the inside of the cell block, library and 3 gift stores. There are other buildings but none that you can tour. We felt it was a little pricey for what you are allowed to see.

Great well organised tour, with a very knowledgeable guide, would highly recommend the Gray tours
The day was good with a great tour guide that was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the day, both at Muir Woods, Sausalito & returning back to join the Alcatraz Ferry 😁

The organization of the...
The organization of the activity is quite a bit messy. They didn't tell me when was my ship to Alcatraz beforehand.

This review is about our tour of Muir Woods, Sausolito and Alcatraz via Gray LineTours.
We had a first class tour guide, her name is Judith. She was very thorough, knowledgeable, and made the experience very memorable. She was an encyclopedic scholar. We loved her. I could go on and on.
We just wanted to say thank you. Judith.
The Muir Woods tour is a must see. A real gem. Just be sure to combine it with the Alcatraz and Sausalito package.
Grey Line delivers and so does Judith.
Thanks Tripsters
