Our top experience by far. We had a 40 minute drive from the base to the glacier in a large vehicle. We then put spikes on our shoes and hiked up the glacier into Ice caves. It was the most breath taking experience. Marcel was an excellent tour guide. He gave us history on the area. Our entire family loved this. Book the 9am tour. I liked this vendor because they kept our group small and we got there early so it wasn’t packed. As we were coming back down other tour vendors were showing up With 20-30 people in a group and it was so crowded. It looked miserable. Katlatrak was awesome and easy to work with!
Incredible experience. Our guide (i forget her name but blonde and Portuguese) was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. A must do adventure for your trip to iceland. Also they had Incredible coffee and the pizza was our favourite meal in Iceland.
Great experience! Great guide!
My family and I did the Porsmork Super Jeep Tour. Simion was great as a tour guide. The weather was rainy, so he accommodated us by going to see canyons. We saw Merkurker that had a fast moving stream in a cave. Simion then took us to see Eyjafjallajokull Glacier where we learned that this is the only glacier growing in Iceland. My highlight of the tour was seeing Stakkholtsgja Canyon with it tall walls. My daughter's favorite was Nauthusagil. Simion was very helpful with our family crossing streams and climbing rocks. He also shared with us Icelandic folklore during the jeep ride. My son enjoyed the water splashing over the jeep. Two days later, we did Katla Fast Track Ice Cave. Angelika was our tour guide. My kids loved seeing the ice caves. The ice caves were one of my kids' highlights of the trip. Angelika did a great job assisting the group of people up and down the glacier. She took pictures of each families in the ice caves. I recommend Katlatrack. I just recommended them to a coworker today who is going to Iceland soon.
Dream come thru and the the guide, she was amazing
This was a very fun tour. We did this in constant rain so the combination of the rain, ice, cleats, temporary boards for crossing fast moving streams made the trip all the more adventurous. For some, it was too adventurous. The guys were very good and were offering support to cross the more challenging areas. The ice formations and caves inside made the trip worthwhile. It would have been better if the excursion provided complementary rain, jackets and pants as we were soaked at the end of the experience.
We loved the experience and especially the guide who was very funny and told a lot of stories.
Absolutely incredible experience! We did an ice cave tour near Vík and it exceeded every expectation. Climbing through the ice cave itself was surreal, our guide gave us a great breakdown of the glacier and how these caves actually form, which made the whole thing even more fascinating. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of his way to grab photos of all of us so we didn't have to worry about it ourselves. The meeting point was easy to find, and the van ride out to the glacier was a nice chance to relax and take in the scenery before the adventure started. The group size was perfect with 10 people, it still felt intimate and personalized. Well worth every penny. If you're visiting Vík, this is a must-do. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience, very unique, easy to do, and our guide was friendly and quite funny. The views were spectacular. Highly recommend it!
The experience was disappointing to say the least. The drive in a very old van was hot and humid. There was no AC, warm air blasted from the vents, and the driver refused to let us put any windows down. There was very little exploration of the ice caves. Our experience involved long waits for groups to pass, incessant chatter from the guide attempting jokes, and a cumulative time of approximately 10 minutes in the ice cave itself. Meanwhile, we were forced to take pictures every several hundred yards it felt like we were on a cruise ship, Disney walk, and overall we’re quite disappointed with the hike itself. Inauthentic and contrived. Upgrade the van.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations. During Iceland's peak season, the ice caves can be busy, and our guides do their best to manage the flow of groups while ensuring everyone's safety. Regarding the vehicle, the guide kept the windows closed because the route is on a gravel road, and opening them would fill the cabin with dust, making the ride uncomfortable for everyone. We appreciate your comments and will take them into consideration as we continue working to provide the best possible experience. We hope that, despite this experience, you enjoyed the rest of your time in Iceland and wish you safe travels. All the best, Katlatrack Team
