We had the absolute best time on this tour! Courtney was a wonderful tour guide and led us through the Brixton Market and Windrush Square. We learned so much about Black British History and about the current interworking of the Brixton neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to try wonderful African and Caribbean food while hearing about the historical and present context of each!

Obi’s tour was the first stop of my 6-day stay in London and easily the highlight. It set the tone for a more cultured and informed look into the cultural makeup of the African and Caribbean diaspora who call London home, specifically in the Brixton area. From the food to Obi’s stories and the amazing vibes among the tour group, this was a 10/10 and I walked away feeling enlightened with a full stomach! Obi’s tour stands out as the best I’ve ever experienced and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of history and connection to the people who make Brixton what it truly is.

From walking down Electric Avenue—the iconic street made famous by Eddy Grant’s song—to exploring colorful markets filled with fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meats, herbs, and spices, every moment was a whole vibe! What made this tour truly special was Obi. He shared the rich history of Brixton, his childhood memories, and his father’s journey to London. He didn’t just show us the neighborhood—he made its history, culture, and people come alive. The food was amazing, but Obi’s warmth and hospitality made the experience unforgettable. He welcomed us like family, and I even made some wonderful new friends along the way! The Brixton Market Tour with African and Caribbean Cuisine was absolutely amazing! We had the pleasure of having Courtney as our guide, and he truly did not miss a beat. Courtney went above and beyond to educate us on the deep connection between African, Caribbean, and Black culture and London, including the significant contributions and influence of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities in the development of London and Europe as a whole. He shared so much knowledge about food, cuisine, culture, history, politics, and the experiences of African and Caribbean communities in London. As a Caribbean woman myself, I found the experience particularly eye-opening and meaningful. There was something incredibly special about learning history through food, through the local vendors, and through the stories and presence of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities throughout London. Courtney’s relationships with the vendors along the tour added another layer of authenticity and made the experience feel personal rather than simply informational. What I loved most was the way Courtney blended culture, cuisine, history, and hospitality so naturally. His positive energy was contagious and played a huge role in keeping the group engaged, organized, and connected throughout the tour. He was also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating to everyone’s needs. We had someone in our group who walked more slowly and used a cane, and Courtney made sure they were comfortable and never felt rushed or left behind. He was equally respectful and attentive to the elders in our group while still making sure everyone felt included. This was so much more than a food tour. It was an opportunity to eat, learn, connect, and better understand the history and contributions of African people, Caribbean people, and Black communities in London through the people, food, and places that continue to shape the culture today. Courtney was an exceptional guide, and his knowledge, energy, hospitality, and genuine care for the group made this an unforgettable experience. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful way to experience Brixton, African and Caribbean culture, and London through food and history. ❤️🌍🍴

Fantastic tour! Obi is a Brixton native and is a fount of fascinating information. At the end of the tour I learned things that I never knew and had a literal taste of the local culture (including the BEST Jamaican beef patty of my life!). Obi was gracious and engaging. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful atmosphere on a small group Tour and definitely add this to your itinerary if you have time. Courtney was great guide filled with high energy and finished the tour with a bit of history. Food was great and two food spots were very good (Soup + Beef Patty). Not too long and great value for the price.

This was amazing. Obi was injured so couldn't lead, but he met up with our group at 3 stops. Courtney filled in as our guide and was fantastic. Funny, engaging, personable, knowledgeable. The food was great. We stopped at multiple shops for Jamaican Patties ( spicy and a favorite), oxtail, chili chicken, Jamaican snack food, Nigerian Jollof rice( my fave), fried plantains(so good)and puff puffs, and a variety of incredible fruits as we wandered the market, learned the history of the Windrush generation/ immigration, the food, the market, neighborhood area, and famous residents. We ended at a restaurant in the arcade for jerk chicken, plantains, rice and chickpeas with fun local drinks (I had sorrel). We were a small group with a variety of solo travelers, but had so much fun, we stayed and visited with Courtney and each other at the restaurant 30 minutes after the tour was done. I learned a lot, had delicious food and had a blast in an area most tourists don't get to. I was the only white girl and traveling solo, but was welcomed eagerly. I can't recomendé this tour enough. Next trip I want to take Obi's historical tour of London from the black immigrant perspective. I'll do this food tour again, too.

Courtney is an enthusiastic & friendly guide who included everyone in the group & worked hard to ensure we enjoyed the experience. Without giving too much away we did about 7 stops around Brixton Market to try different produce & dishes from Africa & The West Indies. We particularly noticed how flavoursome the fruits were in comparison with our sometimes bland supermarket produce & we loved the patties from Healthy Eaters. The meal we had at The Ritzy was delicious & plentiful. We weren’t rushed at The Ritzy as we enjoyed the many tasty dishes which were beautifully presented & we were given an explanation of the ingredients etc. If you are looking for an introduction to Brixton this tour is a great place to start.

Obi you made the time so informative and fun for everyone. An outstanding tour for locals and tourists. Highly recommended to everyone.
