From the beginning to the end this was a most enjoyable day. Our guide, Dino, didn’t just take us to the pools - he went the extra mile to make our venture fun and informative.
In the drive to the pools, we stopped regularly for him to explain local customs, spot wildlife and sample local food from street vendors.
At the walk itself he took us on a route less well trod to ensure we got to enjoy to pools with as few other tourists as possible.
His English was excellent as was his knowledge of local flora and fauna. He provided special treats for us to enjoy and the meal at the end was delicious.

Perfect morning
Beautiful morning out. Scenery is as stunning. Easy hike and divine cool off under the falls.
My guide Boney was excellent, so friendly and knowledgeable! Definitely recommend 😊

If you do one tour in Ella this should be the one!
We had the most brilliant day at the Diyaluma waterfalls. Communication, pick up and transport were all first class. Our guide, Dinu, was superb and was a great source of local knowledge. We trekked to the falls and swam in cooling lakes before having a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Thank you so much!

Breathtaking views
This was our second tour with Sanju and we just enjoyed it immensely. The waterfalls were so beautiful, the hike was breathtaking and the natural pool was so refreshing. Sanju knew exactly where to go and helped us get across some of the more difficult/scary parts. It was incredibly worth it.

Unforgettable
Dinuka is very knowledgeable and warm, someone who is easy to talk to and gave his own flair to the experience. There was a wild elephant near the falls that day and he leveraged his relationships with other guides to maneuver safely around her while also letting us observe her from afar across the waterfall. He knew of the best places to swim and was willing to go out of the way to find what was safest and most worthwhile. One note I had was it would be great to have an extra life vest for those less comfortable with swimming since it can get quite deep and the current can be strong in the pools. Dinuka also came armed with presents and lunch in the village was spectacular; we also got to see some new years festivities and Dinuka made sure to explain everything that was happening. Great day and unforgettable experience, just be careful at the falls. It can be a pretty wild place

Perfectly Guided Waterfall Experience!
We had an amazing experience on diyaluma waterfall tour! Our guide, Dinu, was incredibly friendly, easygoing, and made the whole trip really enjoyable from start to finish. What truly stood out was his deep knowledge about Sri Lanka — he shared so many interesting facts about nature, culture, and local life, which made the tour both fun and very informative.
Dinu also knew exactly which paths to take and when to go, allowing us to avoid the crowds and enjoy the waterfall in a much more peaceful and authentic way. It felt like a hidden gem experience rather than a typical tourist stop.
The local lunch was also a highlight — really delicious and a great addition to the whole experience.
Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a mix of adventure, great insights, and a relaxed, well-organized experience!

A real highlight - highly recommended and supports the local village
Fantastic day at one of the most stunning waterfalls and natural swimming pools we’ve ever visited. After a short 30 min walk you arrive at the first of 3 different swimming spots, a large lovely pool, then you follow the path down to two more stunning swimming holes. Our guide was from the local village and took lots of great photos for us and was very helpful to advise the best way to enter and exit the swimming pools safely. We were welcome to spend as long as we liked relaxing and swimming in the pools. Afterwards we ate at a local restaurant in the village which served a nice curry and rice.
Highly recommend booking this tour and having a guide rather than trying to navigate yourself, and it also supports the local village! Big tip: go as early as possible, we had the 9am pickup from Ella and we had a short amount of quiet time in the pools then huge numbers of other tourists started to arrive and it was less peaceful.

Thank you for highlighting the importance of timing. We always recommend the 8:00 a.m pickup as the best option for a more peaceful experience before larger crowds arrive. However, we do offer two pickup times to provide flexibility and accommodate our guests’ preferences.

Wonderful Waterfalls!
One of the best things we have done in Sri Lanka! Sampa was a hero! We loved every second. Stopping to tell us about all the nature, wildlife and plants. Then seeing the falls, swimming and jumping in them and he took some brilliant photos of us! We really cannot recommend it more highly!
