This was an easy way to visit the rain forest. The coach picked us up and drove up the mountain to Kuranda. We enjoyed the sky buckets and the train ride down, as well as the shops and markets in town. Everything was well documented and the paperwork made this an easy trip.
When booking, we were aware it was not the full experience, however it was not clear how short the experience was. We went on a 20 minute coach from Smithfield at 9.45am for the skyrail loop which is a 10 minute cable car to Barron Falls and 10 minutes back to Kuranda. We then had 3.5 hours to kill in Kuranda with little to do that did not cost more money. We finally boarded the train at 2.45pm to then get stuck at Barron Falls due to track issues, and we didn't return to the car at Smithfield until 6pm. For over 8 hours, we had 20 minutes of actual experience! We have recieved a partial refund for the train but feel the skyrail and Kuranda free time was far too expensive for what it was. Avoid until works are done, and you dont need more than an hour in Kuranda. Coming from the UK, we are gutted to have wasted a day of our time in Australia.
Dear 187gemmat, I'm so sorry to hear you were one of many guests affected with the train departing Kuranda for only returning a few hours later back to where you started! My sincere apologies. I hope you took the time to walk in the Rainforest at the Barron Falls and learn much about the area you were in. While Kuranda is a village, it does have markets, attractions, restaurants and other places. I guess everything depends on people interests. I hope the rest of your time in Cairns was enjoyable. It was HORRIBLE. Nothing worked. The skyrail wet only 1/4 way and the scenic train was cancelled. So it was a waste of my money
Dear Villia_C, With the recent cancellation of the Kuranda Scenic Rail due to a bridge issue, all our guest were contacted and given the choice to still travel, change date or receive a refund. I believe that the Skyrail loop experience is still a great one while they undergo a very important upgrade. And, Kuranda village still is a great village to visit and learn about the Rainforest and the traditional owner of the land. I hope the rest of your time in Cairns was enjoyable. Nice day. The train ride was so long and boring. You couldn’t really see anything except for on the first stop.
Nice one day trip to Kuranda, pick up and drop off were on time, the ticket to one lf the parks in Kuranda was a nice bonus. The skyrail views are stunning. All in all a good experience.

My wife and I travelled from Ireland to Sydney and then to cairns, the skyrail and kurunda railway were booked by Viator and we had an excellent experience

When booking the tour it stated that is starts at 10 however when we finalised the booking, we weren’t being picked up until 11:55am which we thought was odd since the last train to depart from Kuranda was at 3:30pm sharp. We called to ask and was told the 11:55am pick up was correct. When the time came for pick up, the bus arrived but told us it wasn’t for us. We waited 15 mins before called the tour company and was told the bus is coming. When the bus showed up, it was the same bus. We had to change buses midway which caused further delays. We were meant to reach Kuranda at 12:45pm which would allow us to explore the town for 2hrs 45 mins before the train, however we didn’t arrive until 1:45 which didn’t leave us much time to explore and wonder the town. Overall, you’re better off Ubering up to Kuranda and taking the train back to Carins Central Station rather than booking with Down Under Tours.

Skyrail was wonderful! No notice for us to get a canceled schedule from Cable way to just coach. No any refund money too.
Great friendly staff and made sure all of had a great time
On time. Informative. SkyWay is boring...train ride is worth the cost. Interesting choice of activities at the top. The butterfly enclosure is great.
