In late September I spent three days in Budapest. I booked a private art nouveau tour with Zsuzsi from Curiocity. What started off as a bit of a splurge turned out to be money wisely and well spent. Zsuzsi is deeply knowledgeable and also passionate. She loves Budapest: the architecture, the art, the food --oh that strudel!--the history, and she skillfully shares what she knows. Knowing every corner of the city she led me into corners --revealing other vistas -- tourists generally miss. The architectural tour was such a success (and so much fun), I arranged a second day with Zsuzsi, touring Budapest's Jewish district, and having my mind blown by the city's three main synagogues. Fact is: I can't wait to go back to Budapest and Zsuzsi is a big reason why!

Five stars are not enough to describe this life experience. Mine, in fact, was not a simple and traditional guided tour but a 360° experience discovering the most hidden corners of Budapest, behind which lie unexpected 'gems' in Art Nouveau style. Every route with Zsuzsanna is always 'tailor-made', which means it is never necessarily pre-established and/or standardized. On the contrary, along with what can be considered true 'musts' of the route, the itinerary can also be personalized based on the interests and specific needs of the visitor (I, for example, had visited the Mai Manó Ház the day before, so, by mutual agreement, we decided to focus on other stops that were still unknown to me). What can I say about Zsuzsanna: she is an excellent scholar and a fantastic person, both from a human and professional point of view. Her preparation, it goes without saying, is of the highest level. Her dedication, moreover, is impeccable: just think that my tour lasted even an hour longer! At the end of the visit, he accompanied me to a bookstore, where I hoped to purchase a particularly valuable book (unfortunately, the copies were sold out), and he also included a stop at a super original café in the center, where we enjoyed a delicious coffee and an excellent slice of Hungarian strudel! I will conclude by saying that there are truly no words to describe this experience: it is, in fact, thanks to an innate love for one’s profession and that ‘sacred fire’ that constantly drives us toward excellence, that people like Zsuzsanna are able to catapult their interlocutors into a magical world, made of dreams, art, and culture. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), from now on I will always live with a deep nostalgia for an era I never experienced: the one in which Art Nouveau flourished, the traces of which I will certainly continue to pursue, as well as its various expressions, throughout Europe.

When my husband and I first saw Budapest back in 2025 on a river cruise, we knew we had to come back to explore that beautiful city more. In 2026 we returned for a week's stay, the highlight of which was a 4-hour private walking tour of Budapest's Art Nouveau Architecture. Suzy Szöke was our guide, and she showed us both the city's most iconic/well known Art Nouveau buildings as well as countless other breathtakingly stunning but lesser-known structures that we would have otherwise missed. In addition, she took us inside several structures, enabling us to see amazing Art Nouveau interiors featuring tile, stained glass and metal work that we would have never known existed. We ended the tour at my request at a bookstore, where I purchased a book (Jugenstil in Budapest) as a memento of our tour. The tour opened our eyes further to Budapest's architectural riches - and now I'd love to return again to this city of architectural treasures, to further explore...

Top notch. Michael went out of the way to tailor his tour. Brilliant historically and artistically. Very special accass was ours thanks to our wonderful guide. It is especailly appreciated that he did this on very little notice.

We had the most wonderful 4 hours in Szusanne’s company of CuriocityBudapest exploring the incredible Art Nouveau heritage of Pest. Szusanne has a doctorate in architecture with a particular passion for Art Nouveau buildings. Her knowledge was extraordinary. She managed to ‘smuggle’ us inside a few buildings not usually open to tourists which made our experience even more special. The strudel stop was much appreciated too! We spent the rest of our trip ‘looking up’. Highly recommend this experience which made our trip to Budapest even more special.

Suzy is truly a wonder, and her knowledge of and passion for her country and city’s history is remarkable. She was well familiar with the Art Nouveau treasures in Budapest, and had or made access to several excellent places and vantage points I could never have managed on my own. Highest recommendation.

We were fortunate enough to do an Art Nouveau walking tour with Suzy throughout Budapest. Suzy is knowledgeable and thoughtful. She has extensive knowledge about Budapest’s architecture and history and took us to many lesser known sites. She was also mindful of the heat and made sure that we were appropriately shaded and walking at a comfortable pace. Suzy took the two of us on an extremely informative walking tour looking in great detail at a number of Art Nouveau buildings. She had a knack of accessing areas not open to the public. This meant we saw so many more examples of Art Nouveau features like stained glass windows, wrought iron work & porcelain tiles than we would ever have found ourselves. Suzy had so much knowledge which she shared enthusiastically, pointing out details we would not have noticed independently. She gave us much more time than we expected and broke the walking tour with a stop for very good coffee & cake beautifully served in Hungarian porcelain at the amazing Art Nouveau Four Seasons Gresham Hotel.
