We had an excellent guide for our Jewish Budapest Private City Walking tour. Andrea was very knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our specifications. Four hours was a good amount of time to see and experience many sights, synagogues, and the Jewish Quarter.
Thank you so much for your feedback, deara Madeline! I am happy you had a great and useful time with our guide. Wishing you all the best!
Susan was very nice and professional. She has a lot of knowledge and was passionate about sharing it. She was flexible and can tailor the trip to your personal needs. I learned a lot of history about Hungary and the Jewish history there.
Dear Andrea, Thank you so much for your kind feedback! It matters a lot to have good feedbacks and it was my real pleasure to meet you both! All the best to both of You!
This was the highlight of our two week trip on the Danube with AMA. Suzy Szoke was fabulous!!! She was extremely knowledgeable, engaging and committed to showing and telling us the Jewish history of Budapest & the Hungarian territories, concentrating on the Holocaust, the politics of the 20th century & the righteous gentiles. She knew the architecture & detailed history of the large synagogues and told their stories. Suzy’s tour was non-stop for hours and each minute was really interesting!!! We loved our day in Jewish Budapest & highly recommend this tour guide!! This was college level history, psychology & sociology,
Thank you for making it all worth by having such audience on my tour! Wishing every tourist was so open and interested in our history like You. All the best with the hope of your return.
Exciting visit. Joel, our guide, speaks perfect French and has traced the history , beyond Jewish history, to today, as well as the history of remarkable monuments such as the Great Synagogue. A very good time where we learned a lot. A big thank you to Joel.
Merci beaucoup d'avoir réservé avec nous. Merci beaucoup pour vos commentaires :)
During our recent school trip to Budapest, we intended to gain a deeper understanding of the tragic events that took place there during the Second World War. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet these expectations. From the beginning of the tour, our guide, Suzy, repeatedly expressed that she did not enjoy leading tours. This attitude significantly affected the atmosphere. Rather than being treated as engaged and interested students, we felt that we were addressed dismissively and condescendingly. Questions were often met with disrespect, which left many in our group feeling uncomfortable or even discouraged from participating at all. At times, it seemed as though the focus shifted from educating us to undermining and humiliating members of the group. Overall, the experience was disappointing, as we had hoped for an informative and respectful educational tour. However, the guide’s conduct fell short of what could have been a truly meaningful and impactful visit.
No comment on such misleading and humiliating feedback which does not contain not even a half of a truth but in return is full of false accusations. Wishing you would all read the 10 commandments, which are basic human rules if not anything else, especially the 8th you should concentrate on! But that is not the point as malicious people are everywhere. But what I do object 100% is that to state such lies as well about me not enjoying giving tours or that I treated anyone with disrespect. Thanks for mentioning that as me I really did feel like it myself by the way, from moment one as the group was laughing and making fun continously over things I said, instead of listening to what I had to say on the tour. No matter I tried to make a point on that, they would not stop. I expected some older highschool students to be more serious and sensible when it comes to listening and learning on anything, especially on such important part of our history. Wondering what made them to be like it...
We booked the Jewish Budapest Private City Walk with Suzy as our guide for a school group of 13 students and 2 teachers. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. At the beginning of the tour, Suzy remarked that she “hates groups,” which immediately created an uncomfortable atmosphere. Throughout the tour, her attitude came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. She was often rude toward both the students and teachers, frequently criticizing comments or questions rather than engaging with them constructively. As a result, the group felt uncomfortable and humiliated for much of the experience. In addition, Suzy spent a significant amount of time on her phone, often walking ahead of the group and rushing us to keep up. This made the tour feel disorganized and less enjoyable. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the experience and would not recommend this tour, particularly for school groups or larger parties.

We booked this tour as a part of our class trip to Budapest, in hopes to gain insight on the jewish point of view on the history of Hungary/Budapest. What we got instead were 5 hours of rudeness, entitlement, dismissiveness, passive and active agression and public undermining. From the start, Suzie made it clear that she "hates groups" because "she's not a shepherd". We were then rushed to a bistro, and instead of having a relaxing lunch break we were pressured to eat quickly and don't leave anything. When a student approached her about their life-threatening allergy, all they got back was attitude and a disrespectful response. Throughout the whole tour, Suzie asked our class a lot of questions, but most of us were too afraid to answer them since everytime someone did give an answer, Suzie reacted by laughing at them, correcting them, rolling her eyes and scoffing. As a result, our class was usually silent during these questionaires, but she also didn't like that and said multiple things indicating that she thought our class is stupid for not knowing certain dates or specific numbers and names. She was extremely disrespectful towards all students, and even the teachers. All of her questions and answers were wildly condescending and her attitude was out of the roof. We were not able to give her any feedback during the tour, since she was constantly walking ahead on her phone and did not accept any opinions or comments. The atmosphere was very tense, intimidating and very uncomfortable. We do not reccomend this, if you value your time, your money, or being treated with basic human decency. A guide should bridge the gap between history and the audience, Suzie only succeeded in creating an atmosphere of hostility.

We had a great afternoon walking through the jewish quarter with Suzy. Suzy met us at our hotel and then we began our journey. She was flexible in allowing my family to create its own unique intinerary for the afternoon. suzy introduced my father to an archivist that was able to find some very cool old materials documenting my father's Budapest family roots. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants an in depth, unique and personalized visit to the jewish quarter
Thank you for your kind words, Matthew! It really was my pleasure to guide you and really hope to see you again. Wish you all the best! Suzy
We visited the 2 synagogues, the ghetto area, the remains of the wall, the shoes on the Danube river. The guide told us a lot of anecdotes and the history of the country and the Jews.
The Synagogue costs extra $, didn't see that and wasn't prepared. Our guide Joel, was very patient, most of us were over70.
