the experience was great - in the dark, animals and bugs, a toucan which was incredible - everything we expected in terms of the experience - we understand that nature is changeable and you get what you get - and we got a lot. My only 'issue' is unfortunately our guide who was a little harsh and a little grumpy and who risked losing our child's excitement and engagement by being a little cold/harsh - I get that it is serious and important but our child is also a child and actually excited about all of the information - they are just little and perhaps need a little more encouragement
You wrong be disappointed! We saw a variety of animals. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all species in monteverde.
While the guide tried, our night hike was in the pouring rain and we saw almost no animals. Two hours of walking to see a few frogs, an armadillo and a tarantula was not worth it.

Great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and requested inputs of what people wanted to see. We didn’t see a jaguar though. We saw owls, toucans, armadillos, a possum, frogs and spiders.

The guided rainforest night hike was honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. Being in the rainforest after dark was both exciting and a little surreal, and we saw so much wildlife! I was able to spot a viper, multiple snakes, toucans, scorpions and even tarantulas, which was incredible. Our guides made the whole experience even better. They were extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly where to look to find these animals, and they kept everyone engaged the entire time with interesting facts and stories. You can tell they’re really passionate about what they do. If you’re even thinking about doing a night hike, I highly recommend it—it’s such a unique way to experience the rainforest!

We were lucky enough to have Luis as our guide. He was amazing! Friendly, knowledgeable and was considerate of the forest. We were able to see more wildlife than I expected to see. Pit vipers, armadillos, several species of frogs and even a few beautiful birds nesting. My daughter was stung by a bee, which is no reflection of the property or the tour in any way. It’s a known risk of being in the jungle at night. A minor bee sting and wasn’t a concern. I bring this up, because our guide was equipped with a fist aid kit and showed compassion and had kind words to make sure we all knew it’s a standard bee sting and how to treat it for comfort. Well done Luis! If we are back in the area, I will certainly take another tour with Luis!

You go into a wildlife tour knowing you may not see much wildlife, however Johnny the guide has incredible ears and eyes and is able to find a huge variety of interesting flora and fauna. Even if I'd stood looking for a year I wouldn't have found some of the insect's, frogs, tarantulas, snakes, scorpions and birds he identified. And a sloth! All this while being an engaging guide who keep the whole group interested. Also it was lovely to learn about life in Monteverde and local culture. I was little nervous about waking around the forest in the dark, but Johnny made us feel safe and comfortable.

We had such a great time on our Monteverde night tour with Johnny! He was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife. Johnny worked hard to help us spot as many animals as possible, and we were lucky enough to see two sloths, several frogs, a viper, poisonous spiders, and even walking sticks.
