However, we sincerely apologize that the game drive did not meet your expectations. Your guide should have allowed sufficient time to observe and photograph the hippos and giraffes instead of concentrating too much time on finding a lion. A safari should appreciate every sighting that nature provides. Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that the Chobe experience you received did not fully match the small-group safari you booked with us. We accept responsibility for the operational mix-up that occurred on the Botswana side. Your transfer from Victoria Falls began with six guests as planned, but after crossing the border, the small-group arrangement was not maintained as it should have been. We acknowledge this and sincerely apologize. However, we would like to respectfully correct several statements in the review. Firstly, the Botswana operator is not an unknown company that we simply “passed you off” to. It is our sister company in Botswana. We established this local operation in line with Botswana’s tourism framework and our commitment to supporting local participation and employment. Our Botswana activities are therefore operated locally by Botswana-based guides, drivers and staff. Secondly, the statement that your river safari had “60+ people” is simply not accurate. Our larger boat carries a maximum of approximately 20 passengers, while the other carries approximately 17. We do not operate a 60-passenger safari boat on the Chobe River. The many people you saw at the border crossing were also not all Cuckoo Safaris clients. The border is used by numerous safari companies and independent travellers crossing between Zimbabwe and Botswana. Seeing a large number of people there does not mean they were all part of your safari group. We fully accept your criticism that you booked a small-group experience and did not receive the group arrangement you expected. That is where we fell short, and we take responsibility for it. However, we respectfully believe there is an important difference between highlighting that genuine mistake and stating that you were placed on a boat with more than 60 people when the vessel itself does not have that capacity. Regarding the payment conversion from USD to Botswana pula, we also raised this with our Botswana team because the amount charged should correctly correspond with the agreed price. We appreciate that, despite your disappointment, you acknowledged that your game-drive guide was good, you saw numerous animals including elephants, you enjoyed the Boma lunch and facilities, and you had a good boat captain and guide. When you contacted us, we acknowledged the mistake, apologized and provided USD 40 compensation. This was not intended to dismiss your experience or “wash our hands” of the matter. We understand that you felt the compensation was insufficient, and you are entitled to express that view. We sincerely regret that the small-group arrangement was not delivered correctly, particularly as this was your first safari. We have taken responsibility for that failure and reviewed the coordination between our Zimbabwe and Botswana teams. At the same time, we respectfully ask that factual details particularly the claim of a 60+ passenger boat and the suggestion that our Botswana team is an unknown operator we had never worked with be represented accurately.
