Wholeheartedly recommend this experience! Our guide, Yuko-san gave a great overview of Geisha culture to start, followed by a really fun Karesansui rock garden activity. We then had delicious matcha, watched a graceful Maiko dance, and got to interact with the Maiko-san afterward.
Since the rest of our group spoke fluent Japanese, the conversation naturally leaned heavy into Japanese, so having a bit more English translation would have been ideal. Yuko-san really tried her level best but it was difficult. However, the artistry, warmth, and hospitality made it well worth it. A wonderful addition to any Kyoto itinerary!

Unforgettable memories in Kyoto
It is a very rare experience to meet with a Maiko so up close, enjoy her performance and have a conversation with her in a Zen temple. I highly recommend having this experience if you visit Kyoto.

A Special Experience in Kyoto
Today, I watched a maiko performance for the first time. I was very interested in the beautiful kimono and traditional dance. The dance was very graceful and elegant.
I also had the chance to ask the maiko some questions. I learned more about maiko culture and their daily life. It was very interesting to hear about it directly from a maiko.
I really enjoyed this experience. I hope I can learn more about Japanese culture in the future.

A truly unique Kyoto experience
This was such a special and memorable experience! The combination of the beautiful temple, Zen garden, traditional tea, and maiko performance gave us a wonderful opportunity to experience different aspects of Kyoto’s culture in one place.
The atmosphere was peaceful and authentic, and it was especially interesting to see the maiko dance up close and learn more about the traditions behind it. Everything was well organized, and the staff were very welcoming and attentive.
I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants to discover more about traditional Japanese culture beyond the usual sightseeing spots.

Enjoy the culture of Kyoto
The maiko were truly, truly wonderful.
The moment the dance began, the air in the room suddenly changed.
Every movement of her fingers, the way she swept her gaze, and every step of her skirt were imbued with feeling, and before I knew it, I was mesmerized, forgetting to blink.
I didn't expect to be able to see it at such a close distance, and honestly, I got goosebumps.
The dignified expression when dancing and the gentle smile when talking.
I was completely captivated by that gap.
Imagining how much practice they have accumulated over the years makes my heart warm.
The silence of the temple, which I don't usually enter, the meticulously maintained garden, and the experience of drawing sand patterns—it was a "special time" from beginning to end.
I have come to Kyoto many times, but this is the first time I've had an experience that moved me so much.
I really want people who are hesitating to try participating.
I will definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful time.

a moment of direct interaction with maiko and Buddhist monks
It was a very rare and valuable experience. Meeting a maiko in person, talking with her, and hearing about personal matters, such as the path she has taken so far was a truly rare experience. Witnessing her professional spirit as she strives in her role as a maiko taught me a great deal. This tour was interesting as it also offered "make your own "karesansui"(dry landscape garden)" experience. The explanation of the garden provided by the guide and the head monk of Ikkain temple of Toufukuji was easy to understand and was delivered in a friendly manner.

Good experience
If you're looking for an up-close and personal experience with a maiko, I highly recommend this! You get to enjoy two traditional dance performances, chat with her, and even try your hand at creating your own karesansui (rock garden).
The atmosphere was super relaxing, and the maiko was absolute perfection—so polite, charming, and genuinely engaging during our conversation. We even got to take photos together at the end. It's truly a must-do for anyone wanting an authentic, immersive taste of traditional Kyoto culture!
