Very disappointing experience. We travelled over 8 hours to Bacalar specifically for the bioluminescence tour, only to discover after a 45-minute wait that there would be no bioluminescence at all. The guide arrived late without apology, and we were pushed into a sunrise paddle tour that we never booked.
The operator later admitted the bioluminescence tour had been removed weeks earlier, yet nobody informed us or cancelled our booking. We spent significant time and money travelling for an experience that was never provided and received only a small partial refund. Poor communication, poor customer service, and a complete lack of accountability.

The underglow experience is only offered during the winter season, as summer sunrises happen too early for the conditions required. We sincerely apologize for the miscommunication regarding your booking and for not providing clearer information beforehand.

Sunrise Luminescence Kayak/Stand Up Paddle Board
Our guide Algelo was amazing. He was fun and helpful, (when the wind kicked up and I could not round a bend he grabbed ahold of my leash and gently pulled me along. I sat for 5 minutes and paddled until the wind died down a bit and I could stand again and glide on my own steam. I'd probably still be there fighting the wind if it were not for Angelo. He was not only knowledgable about the Laguna but also about Mexico, and Central and South America in general. He was patient and personable as well. In reality the Luminescence part of the excursion might work better in theory than in reality. We had to wait for a few stragglers to arrive and by the time we were paddling across the lagoon there was too much ambient light to get a view of anything below the paddle board. Otherwise the tour was magical. I can't imagine a better way to start the day than with hot coffee and fresh cut fruit on the water.

Magical sunrise paddle but not so much illuminated paddleboarding
10/10 would recommend this tour for the sunrise and getting out on the lagoon before anyone else is on the water. It really was magical and we had a wonderful time. We also had time constraints due to some other obligations and the tour guide worked with us to have us back in time since it was only our group in the tour.
Took off one star because this was marketed as a lit up paddleboard tour and from the pictures we thought it would look cool at least until the sun rose. The lights only had an effect while we were at the dock and then you really couldn't tell there were lights once paddling.

Breath taking sunrise experience with an amazing guide
This has been the BEST experience I've had so far in Mexico! Waking up early is not always fun, but it was absolutely worth it. We had an amazing guide, Adriano, who swiftly explained how to navigate the board and then he took us to beautiful places across the lake where we enjoyed an amazing sunrise, coffee and juice and fruits. Adriano also explained things about the lake and gave some nice advise after as well. Thank you for this beautiful memory, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Sunrise in Laguna
We did a sunrise tour with Adrian who was highly recommended, the tour itself was very beautiful and interesting, Adrian the guide explained everything about the lagoon and even made us coffee and cut pineapple.
Fun with a great guide.
