To be fair, the tour company was upfront about the length of the day and the amount of time spent in the van — so no complaints there. But several things impacted our experience, and honestly, it started before we even left the city. We were told to be at San Pedro Market for pickup between 6:40 and 7:00. At 6:35, the driver messaged saying he'd be leaving by 6:45. We had two children with us and had to run to make it. Not a great way to start a 12-hour day — and unfortunately, it set the tone for everything that followed. The highlight of the day, without question, was Chinchero — particularly the women’s demonstration of traditional alpaca textile-making at the very start. It was authentic, unhurried, and genuinely moving to witness. That experience alone reminded us why we came. As a photographer, some of my favorite images come from the in-between moments — the walk to a site, the quiet details along the way, the things most people walk past. On this tour, that was never possible. The pace was so rushed that there was no time to stop, look around, or capture anything outside of the designated stops. Those are often the most memorable shots, and they were completely lost to the hurry. The back of the van had zero ventilation and was miserably hot all day. When I told the guide I wasn't feeling well, he brushed it off without any concern. Being in the back also meant we were always the last ones off at every stop, and the guide never waited — he'd already be moving through the site by the time we caught up. Lunch was genuinely bad — not just underwhelming, but bad enough that it's worth calling out specifically. For a full-day tour at this price point, the meal should be a highlight, or at least acceptable. This was neither. The gem and stone shop was listed on the itinerary, so no surprise there — but after a long, exhausting day, it felt like a poor use of the little energy we had left. Worth knowing going in so you can mentally prepare. The Sacred Valley itself is breathtaking and worth every bit of effort to see. But the execution of this tour fell short in ways that could easily be fixed.
Luigi is a great guide. Very beautiful experience!
Nixon tours put together an incredible private all day tour for us. Our guide James wonderful! Not only did we see the beautiful landscape of Incan ruins and the Andes Mountains but also participated in workshops learning about the intricate weaving techniques. It was lifelong memories for sure.
Organization is great, they contacted us a few days before with pick up location, time and instructions. We visited many places in one day. Also, the restaurant we went to for lunch was amazing. The variety of food was great.
Our guide Luihi was perfect; he explained everything very well and was fun. The food was the only downside of the experience: before taking the excursion, we were assured that there would be vegan options, but the vegan option was just white rice and potatoes... We found it very disappointing, and in addition to the bad food, when we went to pay for two bottles of water, the restaurant did not have change to return our money, and we ended up losing 10 soles.
My two friends and I had an incredible time on this Sacred Valley tour. The itinerary was very well organized and allowed us to see so many amazing places in a single day. We visiting Chinchero, Moray, the Maras Salt Mines, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac—each stop had something unique and fascinating to offer. The scenery throughout the valley was absolutely breathtaking, and our guide was knowledgeable and funny. We learned so much while still having plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the experience. We appreciated the visits to local artisan workshops, which gave us a deeper understanding of Andean traditions and craftsmanship. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish, and the tour offered excellent value for money. If you’re visiting Cusco and want to experience the highlights of the Sacred Valley in one day, I highly recommend this tour.
When visiting the incredible Inca empire, the sacred Valley is a must do Inspiring and suitable for all ages.
My husband and I had the most wonderful experience on this tour. Prior to the tour the company contacted us with details about our day. Our guide was Wilson so picked us up promptly at the time of our tour from our hotel. We had a full and fun day visiting the sites of the sacred valley. Wilson was extremely knowledgeable and kind and shared a detailed history about each location we visited. Also the buffet lunch was delicious! I would highly recommend this tour!
Dante was an excellent tour guide, very passionate about the historical suites! Got to pack in a lot of sites in one day and opportunities to experience local crafts and markets.
More time spent in the bus going from one place to the next than actually spending time at the sites. We felt rushed
