Chirath shared his wealth of knowledge, gained over a lifetime of living in the fort. He told insightful stories helping our family understand the complex history of the fort from Portuguese, Dutch, and English perspectives. It was a fun afternoon culminating with a special treat (I can’t tell you what the treasure is!), and a sneak peak inside the Galle Cricket Club. Highly recommended.
Fabulous experience to discover the Galle fort. Shirath is a fabulous Guide, explains everything phenomenal and is interested in showing you his beautiful city. The journey is very easy and can be done in 1.5 hs. 100% recommended as a travel experience. He showed us a Buddhist temple and a monk gave us his blessing. Quite a wonder.
Chirath is probably the best guide to get to, if one wishes to discover the historic Galle Fort. He knows every nook and cranny in this world heritage site and shares his wealth of information with all those who wish to get to know this wonderful landmark. Being a third generation resident (I think) of the Galle Fort, makes journeying with him all the more authentic. I've done the tour before and want to do it again soon. Looking forward to .... We have just had an excellent walking tour of Galle Fort with Chirath. He was born and brought up here, his family are here and he is knowledgeable and charming- you could not do better. Cannot recommend highly enough.
