We visited Lipton's Seat and a tea factory with our family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The views from Lipton's Seat were absolutely stunning, with endless green tea plantations stretching across the hills. The tea factory visit was both interesting and educational, giving us a better understanding of how Sri Lankan tea is made. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tour enjoyable with interesting stories and a great sense of humor. He kept everyone engaged and ensured we were comfortable throughout the trip. It was a memorable family outing that we highly recommend

Amazing Day at Lipton's Seat and Tea Factory
We visited Lipton's Seat with friends, and it was one of the most beautiful places we saw in Sri Lanka. The breathtaking views over the tea plantations were unforgettable. After that, we explored the tea factory and learned how Ceylon tea is produced, which was very interesting. The whole trip was enjoyable, peaceful, and well organized. We left with wonderful memories and would happily recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area

A good choice
Recommend this short tour if you’re making your way to Haputale from Ella. Leave early to get great views from Lipton’s Seat. Pick up was on time and communication was superb. The driver was great too!

A perfect tour of tea country
A fantastic morning exploring Sri Lanka’s famous tea country.
Our guide, Dila, picked us up on time and was exemplary with his guided tour, throughout, providing useful insights, detail and background. His driving was excellent on at times, challenging roads and we found him to be incredibly affable and friendly. His excellent service really made the trip.
We arrived at Lipton’s Seat for a stunning sunrise over the valley below and followed this up with a wonderful tea and freshly made snacks, just up the hill. This in itself was a great experience for a small cost.
From there we headed back down the mountain to the tea factory, which I enjoyed much more than I expected. It was fascinating to see the old machinery from its inception still in use and to see the end-to-end process of the production, into something we all take for granted.
On our way home, we had another tea stop and a beautiful homemade pineapple cake (price included in the booking), overlooking the Kandy to Colombo railway.
Dila’s kindness extended further, stopping on request for some wonderful fresh fruit from a stall, on the way back to Ella.
A thoroughly enjoyable morning.

We had a fantastic day on...
We had a fantastic day on the private tour to Lipton’s Seat and the Dambetenna Tea Factory. Our guide, Saman, was an excellent driver on the winding roads from Ella and around the Lipton estate, which made the journey both comfortable and enjoyable.
We stopped at a lovely tea shop on the way for refreshments.
The views along the way were absolutely amazing, with stunning scenery throughout the tea plantations. Saman was polite, friendly, and very knowledgeable, and the tour of the tea factory was particularly interesting and informative. Although the clouds didn’t clear when we reached the top of Lipton’s Seat, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. We still thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour
The trip was very nice and the tour guide showed us interesting places on the way and even brought us to a nice tea shop on the way back. And of course amazing views on the way and the tour guide also told us interesting stories about the culture in Sri Lanka

Excellent tour up to...
Excellent tour up to Lipton’s Seat, it’s a pretty bumpy road but Jeewa was a great driver. We were very lucky we had clear skies and amazing views. Great day out in stunning surroundings.
Brilliant day. Jeewa was fantastic and full of information. It was great fun going around in his Tuk Tuk. The tea factory was really interesting and doesn’t seem to have changed much in 100 years. The walk through the tea garden at Lipton Seat was beautiful and Jeewa took some fantastic pictures and video of us. Finally we had tea and cake at a tea shop overlooking more tea plantations. All in all a great day.

Our guide Jeewa was great!
Jeewa went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our day. I think he brought Lady Luck with him, because we got to Lipton’s Seat about half an hour before the fog and mist rolled in. It was perfectly timed, and we had the most picturesque part of Haputale to ourselves for a long time. Jeewa was great at cinematography and directed some videos of us at the tea plantations! We got some cute photos and videos. However, what I remember from the day are our conversations with Jeewa, who has excellent English and was able to paint a realistic portrait of Sri Lanka which we learned a lot from. PS. Jeewa also knows the best viewpoints for the Nine Arch Bridge! What a day to remember.
