The market is currently open in only two of the 4 pavilions, but it is very rich in choices between meat, fish, dairy products, seeds, vegetables and fruit, liquors and sweets. There is a much greater variety of food and products than in Italy, at least in appearance. It made you want to taste and buy a little bit of everything! Very few tourists, many locals, an interesting and unmissable experience.

Take the walk over the canal from Old Town Riga to enjoy this popular large permanent market set up in WWI Zeppelin hangers. Good selection of goods available with the main focus on fresh food. Plenty of more casual fruit and vegetable venders set up in the surrounding area. Well worth a look.

This was our main mission in Riga and as we floated along past on the canal boat, I made a mental note of how to get back. We did not have time to fully explore the enormity of this excellent market, but had time to get a flavor for it and taste a few of the local delicacies. It was an easy walk back to our cruise ship along the waterfront.

For the price, this was not a good value. The tour lasted only about 90 minutes. The samples were few and very small and we left hungry.

Counters and counters as far as the eye could see of interesting Latvian food. Dace provided terrific explanations to accompany each food dish and drink. A wonderful food tour that I'd highly recommend.

Three large hangars where everything retails, a bit touristy but worth visiting. Possibility to have lunch inside.

Big central market, great architecture, fish or and meat department is not for everyone, but delicious food, honey, atm inside

Learned more About the challenges of living through Latvia winters and how people manage to preserve food. Also heard about the various traditions for holidays. Very interesting. Lots of samples too.

Food market and not only that is located just outside the city center. It is housed in three large hangars where Zeppelins were built. It is the largest Covered Market in Europe. Very authentic, few tourists and many locals doing the daily shopping. Low prices and products, especially food, very special, never seen in Italy. Outside, some stalls selling mainly clothes and bags. It's worth a ride.

This was a fabulous food tasting , Dace was so informative she gave us traditional food we would never have tried had we not booked this trip.
