Stay in Montreal to enjoy maple syrup

I’m so sorry but DO NOT do this event. The meal was nice but the “maple sugar tour” was not educational, hands on or even standing amongst maple trees. It lasted a short 5 minutes. Next was a 20 minute drive to a sleepy town north of the restaurant. Walked around bored for one hour and unfortunately hit horrific traffic (2.5 hour drive) back to Montreal. Spend your time and money on another activity.

Your chance to visit a sugar shack

Long way to travel but the sugar shack was a great experience. It’s all you can eat menu, with soup to start followed by ham, sausages, potatoes, beets and omelette. To end the meal pancakes and taffy cake. You must embrace the experience and cover everything with maple syrup 🍁🍁. Had time to explore the gift shop as well.

Not worth $140/ person

First, everyone that took care of us were kind and helpful. The journey to the "sugar shack" was 1.5 hours. Upon our arrival we had a 10ish minute presentation about the process of making maple syrup. I was hoping for a more in depth dive from "tree to bottle". The meal was fine. I wanted more history of the dishes. (Why does pork seem like a primary protein? This dish is the result of a need to preserve, etc.) There was not an opportunity to purchase maple products at the sugar shack which was a bummer. On the return trip we stopped in a small town for 30ish minutes, I still don't understand the significance of the stop. Ultimately, I'm not sure it is worth the price tag.

A "Taste" of Maple

Zhang shared both historical and current information about Quebec and Montreal as we traveled towards our destination. Thanks to Zhang's organizational skills we were quickly seated for our meal then advised where to go for the presentation with Zhang leading the way. At the conclusion Zhang summarized our meeting point/time to be there and suggestions what one could explore. He was attentive and sensitive to those with mobility challenges. An enjoyable outing with Zhang committed to all having maximizing what the tour offered.

We had a mix up with our reservation but Concord had wonderful customer service and made sure we had an amazing experience. Jason our tour guide was friendly and informative and made the trip super special! The sugar shack was a great spot to visit and a good change of scenery if you are visiting the city and the food was very good but make sure you come hungry!

Worth it!

What a fun experience this was!! When I first booked the trip, my husband and I were excited to find out more about maple and the way it’s made. Well, we got much more than out of this experience! Not only did we learn how maple is produced, but we also got to try it when they served us a delightful and delicious lunch as well as introduction to what true maple is! Definitely would recommend during your stay in Montreal to book this tour! You won’t regret it!! Jackie was a wonderful tour guide too!

Strange itinerary, not sure of the point

This tour was a very strange experience. I'll try to describe it simply. We were taken to a location outside of Montreal that featured a barn that served as the location for a simple presentation on the making of maple syrup (although it doesn't seem there is maple syrup produced there). There is also a restaurant with a family style lunch with maple syrup to pour over all. Most of the food was quite good and the maple syrup delicious. But as far as we know, there may be a restaurant in Montreal that could have done much the same thing. Then, however, the tour progresses further away from Montreal to a small city called Trois Rivieres. I'm sure it's a nice place to live, but there is really nothing to do for tourists - especially as we'd just eaten a sizable lunch and most of the businesses downtown are restaurants and bars, not shops. They then deposited us there with little explanation for three and a half hours! It was truly bizarre. It's like they decided to tack something onto the lunch so they could charge more?

Good Quebecois culture experience

The drive from Montréal is about 1 hr 45 minutes. We enjoyed the sugar shack tour (about 20 min) and the maple taffy following the meal. The meal itself was pretty good. We had about 3.5 hours then in the city, which is a lot of time. We spent it walking the riverfront, in the Pop Museum, and at a local brewery. Overall a very good day, but a little long considering the activities available.
