Can’t recommend this tour enough! Had a blast with Hannah, who introduced me to some great food spots and we had a great chat about the differences and similarities between Vietnam and Canada. She tailored the tour to my interests, which was appreciated.
It was indeed free as advertised, they just ask that you cover the cost of food and admission tickets for yourself and your guide. Was a great way to kick off my trip to Vietnam, would really recommend doing a tour on your first day especially if you’re solo — it’s nice to have a local show you around. :)

A wonderful day
Originally, only English tours were provided, but you still helped us find Tina who speaks Chinese; thank you very much for your thoughtful service.
I found this tour very meaningful. Although many of the historical stories we could have researched ourselves, through the interaction between Tina and Lam, we gained a deeper understanding of each other's cultural differences. I highly recommend everyone use this service.

Awesome experience
The walking tour was absolutely fantastic! Our guide Na showed us around the university, explained the different departments, and was happy to answer all our questions. She also took us to try some local food, which was a great way to experience Hanoi beyond the usual tourist spots.
Na was wonderful company throughout the afternoon, and we really enjoyed discovering the city with her. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn more about Hanoi and experience it from a more local perspective! We had a great time ❤️

A really great way to learn more about Hanoi and make new friends!
One of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam was experiencing Hanoi with my tour guide Nhi! Nhi helped me feel immersed in the culture because of her expertise, and great communication. It really felt like a friend was showing me around their home town! I was able to experience how a local actually lives rather than just being a tourist. I was introduced to a lot of hidden areas, buildings and foods that I have not heard of before. I decided to do the university tour/culture exchange and learned a lot about the daily life of university students in Vietnam. I was able to tour the university and view the library, cafeteria, historical sites on campus etc. Overall, if you're hesitating on booking a private tour with Hanoi Free Private Tour Guide, I highly recommend you book a tour to get an immersive experience on how locals in Hanoi actually live their lives.

Great and Unique Experience!
It was wonderful to do something different than normal tourist activities. Hanging out with a class of Vietnamese English learners (as an educator who works with English learners as well) was a treat + my kids had fun, too! Duy was an excellent guide and took us to get a tasty dinner + dessert before we moved on to EFIS English (what I believe is the home of the Hanoi Free Private Tour Guide organization) in the...university area of Hanoi? Probably? It's been almost 2 weeks since the tour so I'm trying to be accurate.
The lesson was wonderful and the teacher (whose name escapes me) was great and worked my kids and I into the class with her students seamlessly. This is one of those experiences that you should do if you are trying to do something that is not at all "touristy." Highly recommended.

Amazing experience
The concept is wonderful. Going on a tour with a guide isn't something i would normally do. (also bc of my low travel budget) The fact that it was free piqued my interest.
It was really nice to share a moment with a local student guide! I learned a lot of things about the city, the culture, politic, history etc!
The guide was really nice and really invested in the walking tour, and also really attentive to what i wanted to do!
Thank you so much for this opportunity and thank you to all the guides who take the time for us.

Skip the Corporate Tours - Go with Hazel and Keit
Huge shoutout to Hazel and Keit from Hanoi Free Private Tour Guide. We spent a fantastic morning together, and it was easily the most authentic experience I’ve had in Vietnam.
Unlike standard commercial tours, Hazel and Keit made the day feel spontaneous and personal. Since they are part of a club practicing their English, we had great conversations about Vietnamese culture, daily life, and history. They were easy to understand, curious, and very fun to talk to!. We laughed, tried some great local spots, and navigated the city like locals.
Supporting students who are so passionate about sharing their culture is a highlight of my trip. Highly recommended!
