I booked this tour to experience the Kurama-to-Kibune mountain hike with my daughter, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip to Kyoto. Having a private guide (Teppei) made the entire day feel incredibly personal, safe, and stress-free for a mother-daughter duo.Our guide was fantastic—exceptionally informative and deeply knowledgeable about the area's rich history. They brought the mountain to life by sharing captivating legends about the mystical Tengu forest spirits, the ancient samurai training grounds, and the spiritual roots of the temples.The hike itself was perfectly paced. Our guide was incredibly mindful of our comfort, ensuring we never felt rushed and had plenty of time to take photos, enjoy the crisp mountain air, and absorb the serene atmosphere. If you want a seamless, deeply enriching bonding experience that gets you away from the city crowds, I cannot recommend this private tour enough.

It was exactly what l hoped it would be. A very spiritual and reflective experience with learning lots about the history of Mt. Kurama. Yushi was so kind and made sure I could experience it.

Our guide, Oto, was both knowledgeable and was fantastic with flowing with changes to the tour as things came up that spoke to our specific interests. ❤️ A couple years ago I spent 21 days in meditation on Mt Kurama. This year I led a group of my students on pilgrimage with 3 days on Mt. Kurama. Even though I've had a lot of experience here, Oto was able to help deepen the connection and give confirmation about several questions I had. His knowledge of Japanese and English really helped as I wanted help from someone who could interpret the Kanji in special areas on the mountain and he helped tremendously as an interpreter for someone special we met on the mountain. It's so beautiful when things work out exactly as they are supposed too! I may end up doing the tour again on a future trip!!

It was a perfect hike during my short stop in Kyoto. The guide is very knowledgeable in history related to Kurama, Kifune and other areas in Kyoto. Highly recommend!!

With an excellent guide who has a passion for Japan and this area we had an awesome time and learned a lot. Despite the high heat and humidity.

My husband and I enjoyed a most magical day taking the Journey up sacred Mt Kurama along with our lovely knowledgeable guide Kaito :) Being in the presence of the divine mountain ..energy of ancient temples , cedars , sacred sites the whole way … A truly powerful humbling spiritual pilgrimage 🌀🙏💟
