Christian and Jakob made the trip educational and wonderful. Christian drove and he made it all about what we wanted, if we needed to stop for a restroom or if we needed a drink, he wanted us to be happy. Jacob was so knowledgeable, as was Christian, and they brought Uppsala to life. There were too many wonderful things to mention—-Cathedral, Viking history/lore, the silver bible—but we strongly encourage everyone to take this viator excursion and we hope that you’re fortunate enough to get Christian and Jakob.

Our day trip to Uppsala was the highlight of our time in Stockholm. Our guide and driver were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had an all-around very enjoyable day. And who would have thought the library exhibit would be so special!

My family (including 15 year old son) just had a wonderful day tour of Broby Bro, Jarlabanki’s Bridge, Arkil’s Tingstad, Gamla Uppsala and Uppsala. The tour was made even better by our guide, Olof. Olof was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. I also appreciated how accommodating Sweden History Tours were, letting us tailor our itinerary including where we went and at what times. I would certainly recommend both Sweden History Tours and Olof to anyone interested in seeing some of Sweden’s most important Viking sights in an informative and efficient manner.

We had an amazing day out, tour guide was fantastic and built the trip around our preferences. Gave us the right amount of time at each place and indulged our fascination with the snow! Would highly recommend as a day trip.
We took this tour with our adult son - at his request - and I did not really know what to expect and the whole day exceeded expectations. Uppsala is a very lovely place to spend a day - quaint and pleasant vibe. We toured a range of fascinating sites - starting with very old viking burial mounds and a very old church adjacent to those mounds in a location where viking burial ships were recently found. We then crossed the river and went to the part of the town which houses the University and Cathedral and saw many sites - including a selection of historical books and writings - like sheet music handwritten by Mozart? the silver bible? this was very impressive. We saw many Rune stones in both locations. The Cathedral is extremely impressive. The Cathedral is free but there is a small fee to see their collection of super duper old clothes - priests robs and similar items, royal items like very vey old crowns and other ornaments, as well as some clothing of secular people. There is an anatomical theatre at the University that is set to reopen this summer after some renovations I believe - later in June - that would be a must see. Really the sites we toured exceed expectations. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and had much to explain and elaborate upon at each site. This was really worth it.
First and foremost hanks for taking your time to leave your review, and booking our tour :-) I'm very happy to hear your 7h Uppsala trip did become such a good day for you guys. Uppsala is really a place with amazing historical remains full with places who have an fascinating history and cool old architecture. Good to hear that the guide was a wealth of knowledge and that the sites was something that blew your mind, and welcome back in the future :-)
This was our last tour in Stockholm and wished it would have been the first. Carl was our driver/guide and he was amazing. First viator doesn’t explain well what the tour involved. Basically you book a guide from 9-5. He will take you anywhere you want and will do what you want to do. We could have gone to Sigtuna and Skokloster with him instead of paying for a separate tour. Carl took us to very unusual Viking places and then stopped and waited for us at the museum of history to see the Viking exhibition. I recommend this tour as you can modify it according to your desires.
Jonathan was our tourguide and an incredibly knowledgeable historian. He was flexible with our family and catered our tour to include sites that are interesting to our children. All in all, a very enriching and enjoyable experience.
