We had a wonderful time exploring Tokyo Bay with Mirei on the Tokyo Great Cycling Tour! Cycling was a fantastic way to discover the city, from the lively Tsukiji outer market and the waterfront in Toyosu and Odaiba to the peaceful Hamarikyu Garden and the impressive Imperial Palace. The route offered a lovely mix of iconic sights, green spaces, and different neighborhoods, giving us a real appreciation for Tokyo’s variety. Thank you, Mirei, for such a memorable day—a highlight of our trip and an experience we would happily recommend!

Great cycling option in Tokyo
Doing a cycling tour with this company was a great introduction to Tokyo. The bike was in great order. The welcome was friendly. My guide Lily was very careful and ensured that I got to see everything promised on the tour. Highly recommended.

A fascinating side of Tokyo you would never discover alone
We joined Tokyo Great Cycling Tour for Route I – The Tokyo Toilet, and it proved to be one of the real highlights of our visit to Japan.
The tour explores The Tokyo Toilet project around Shibuya, an extraordinary community initiative in which leading architects and designers have reimagined the humble public toilet. We visited 12 of the 17 installations, each with its own fascinating design, purpose and story. It may sound like an unusual subject for a cycling tour, but that is precisely what makes it so memorable—it offers a completely different perspective on Tokyo and Japanese society.
Our guides, Yukiko and Mana, were fantastic. They were friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, explaining not only the architecture and design but also the ideas behind the project from a Japanese perspective. The route was extremely well planned, allowing us to make the most of our time while also seeing many notable buildings and lesser-known parts of the city along the way.
We stopped for lunch in Yoyogi Park, where there was a wide variety of food to choose from. Sitting together in the park made us feel very welcome and gave us a lovely sense of being part of everyday local life rather than simply tourists passing through.
We were also incredibly fortunate that our visit coincided with the Yoyogi Hachimangu Shrine Annual Grand Festival. Yukiko and Mana adapted the tour so that we could experience the celebrations and traditional performances taking place at the shrine. It was a wonderful and unexpected moment that we would never have discovered by ourselves, and their explanations helped us understand and appreciate what we were seeing.
This is where being guided by local people makes such a difference. You gain genuine insight, notice details you would otherwise miss and begin to understand more about Japanese life and ways of thinking. Yukiko and Mana’s knowledge brought every part of the tour to life and made the entire day both fascinating and great fun.
The tour offered excellent value and an experience that simply could not be replicated by visiting these places independently or following a guidebook. It is a fantastic way to explore Tokyo, whether you are travelling alone, as a couple, with friends or as a family.
We had an amazing day and came away with a much deeper appreciation of Tokyo. It is an experience we will remember for a very long time, and we cannot recommend Tokyo Great Cycling Tour highly enough.

Big and interesting tour through Tokyo
We had a fantastic bike tour through Tokyo with our guide Nick! He was very disarming and created a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. The trip was not only very cool, but also particularly educational. We discovered Tokyo in a special way and got interesting stories and information along the way. Thanks Nick!

Cycle tour of Tokyo Bay
Toshi was a great guide. We saw plenty despite the heat, that we would not have seen by ourselves. He also gave us recommendations for eating and sites so we could make the most our our limited time in Tokyo
