This was an amazing experience! Our host, Antonia, welcomed us into her home as if we were old friends. She shared the history of her family’s house which was very interesting! We got to be involved one step of the pasta making and cooking process! Delicious stuffed pasta! She served us snacks along the way, aged Parmesan cheese and salami. We ended our class by eating the delicious food we made. She was so kind and gracious, she drove us into the city center to continue our day! Additionally, she and her husband own a restaurant in the main square, Angiol d’Or, and she made us a reservation!
Hi Tracy, thank you so much for your lovely review! It was truly a pleasure welcoming you into our home and sharing our family traditions with you. I’m very happy you enjoyed making pasta together and tasting the Parmesan and salami along the way. It means a lot to know you had a special experience. It would be a pleasure to see you again in the future! Warm regards. Rossella
Can’t believe it took only a few short hours to convince me I could actually start making filled pasta at home myself by hand, starting with a pile of all purpose flour and a couple of eggs. But better than the lesson was the pleasure of Antonia’s company. This was the highlight of our stay in Parma.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so happy to hear that the pasta-making lesson inspired you to try it at home—it’s amazing what a few simple ingredients can create! It’s even more rewarding to know that the experience and company made it the highlight of your stay in Parma. We hope to see you again soon!
We opted for the pick up in Parma because we trained in for the class from Bologna. We enjoyed the :45 ride into the beautiful countryside. During which, we asked our teacher, Virginia all sorts questions that we had gathered up about Italy during our trip. She was a very good sport and answered them with a great sense of humor and very good English! We reached her village and had a few minutes to take a stroll and admire the stone buildings and the absolutely bucolic setting. Then we headed to her home for a fun time learning how to make Italian pasta from the area. We were fortunate that her Truffle expert friend had one which we could add to our pasta filling. What a treat! We met Virginia’s Momma and her tuxedo kitty and learned step-by-step how to make Ravioli and tagliatelle with all the Italian nuances to make the perfect dough. Afterwards, we enjoyed a glass of wine, a delicious charcuterie with gorgeous 3 year old Parmesan and pomodors and fresh basil from Momma’s garden followed by our cooked pastas and local dessert. My sister and I truly enjoyed this genuine experience and meeting the family. We wish Virginia (and Momma) much success and encourage their entrepreneurial efforts. We are sure she will be selling aprons, pasta making gift sets and more next time we return!🇮🇹 Nice to see a next gen foodie keeping these traditions alive!
Mother and son attended the private cookery lesson at Antonia's villa. I was a contented observer, happy in the knowledge that I would be included in lunch. A very warm welcome was provided by Antonia and her sense of humour quickly became evident. A get to know you snack was indulged in before class. The students were then taught the making of fresh pasta, through to all of the stages of tortelli d'erbetta which then became our lunch. Although not one of the students, I was very impressed with the final dish, with Antonia providing the vino, dessert and coffee. I had intended spending the lesson time doing some reading but became caught up in observing the techniques, tips and laughs provided by Antonia. All in all a most enjoyable morning and lunch was had by students and observer. Highly recommended.
Hi, thank you for your lovely review. You and your family have touched with your hand and your stomach the warm welcome and love that characterize Italy. Homemade Fresh pasta, wine and coffee are the basis of a typical lunch in our nation. The techniques for the preparation are a very truly secret that also we have to learn. Of course, in the end, it's fantastic and satisfying to eat what you prepare with your hand. We hope to see you again in Parma soon Rossella
Could not have asked for a better evening!! It was our favorite night in Parma!! Antonia was the perfect host & her home is beautiful!! We felt at home from the second we walked in!! Everyone loved learning Antonia’s family recipe for pasta & we had a ball making it together & then eating what we made outside under the twinkly lights!! We were able to walk to & from her home & again…can not say enough about this amazing night!!! Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Aimee, we are happy that the time you spent with the host Antonia was good. You have tried the typical Italian welcome. We hope to see you soon again in Parma. Rossella
The cooking class was so much fun! We all had a blast. Our teacher , Antonia was incredible. She not only taught us so much but the conversation and atmosphere made for a spectacular afternoon. We are what we prepared in addition to an incredible spread of other foods she had prepared. Wine was enjoyed too!
Everything about this experience was special. The location, the ambiance, the host and the food = all great! Antonia is very welcoming (so is the most well-behaved canine, Miss Cookie, who greeted us and walked us to the entrance). We immediately got down to business and began to learn the art of pasta. We learned to prepare our toretlli from scratch and enjoyed eating it in Antonia's beautiful garden. Aside from learning how to make pasta, you will spend the evening with a very charming hostess who will make you feel part of the family. Grazie mille!
Thank you so much for the review! Antonia is truly a special person and I am happy to know you've enjoyed the experience with her. Kind regards, Rossella
Antonia spoke Italian a great deal which was wonderful. We learned to make two pastas with many tips for success. We also enjoyed learning about Antonia’s family and life in Parma. Finally, the beautiful setting in an elegant villa and the large garden were extraordinary.
Dear Debra, Thank you so much for taking time to write the review. I am very happy to hear you've enjoyed the experience with Antonia.
This is a MUST do if in Parma. We arrived at an elegant and classic Villa, held in the family for generations, and was greeted by our host. After a quick tour around, we got down to making the pasta and learning about the rich history of the township. A few glasses of wine and finishing the pasta, we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The event itself was much like a combination of arts and crafts meets under the Tuscan sun (yes I know we were not in Tuscany). If you are looking for the real Italy and its lovely people, this is magical.
Thank you so much for taking time to write such a detailed review. I am very pleased to hear you've enjoyed your cooking experience with Antonia and I will definitely pass her your kind words. Hope to see you in Parma again! Rossella
