We were picked up on time and had a stop for breakfast before heading out on the tour. Our guide Dafne was very knowledgeable and pointed out lots of animals on our two hour hike, we saw a troupe of capuchin monkeys, many birds and butterflies. Swimming in the Oropendola waterfall and the thermal springs was so refreshing, and the included lunch was good. Great combo tour!
Edward was fabulous!!! He spotted all kinds of creature for us including spider, holler, and white faced monkeys!!! He was personable, friendly, and very knowledgeable!!! The waterfall was also amazing albeit the cold water but it felt refreshing!!! The hike itself is moderate and does include stairs in several places however if you’re in decent shape, it’s very doable!!! Beautiful scenery and highly recommend!!! Edward is the guide to get!!!
It was a great tour. There is, however a lot of walking up and down steps and bridges, so be prepared to get a lot of cardio. You should be in great shape to complete this tour on time. The sites were beautiful, but we did not see much wildlife. The falls, hot springs & the volcanoes were amazing! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable & helpful!
We had a great time on the hike, the waterfall, hot Springs and lunch. Everything made for a very enjoyable day. It would’ve been helpful to know that we would be going back to our car in between each of the excursions. Also would be nice to know ahead of time that there are restrooms so that you can change in between each of the excursions if you choose. Towels are provided for the hot springs so you do not need to bring a towel for that. I would definitely recommend this excursion.
Today we explored the Rincón de la Vieja area with a guided tour through Hacienda Guachipelín. The experience included hiking scenic volcanic trails, seeing bubbling mud pots and steam vents, spotting local wildlife, and learning about the region’s unique geothermal activity and dry tropical forest ecosystem. We also enjoyed beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and had the opportunity to relax in natural hot springs and volcanic mud baths. The tour offered a great mix of adventure, nature, and relaxation while showcasing one of Costa Rica’s most fascinating volcanic regions.

This was a fantastic way to spend our time. The hike is about 2.5 miles and the sights are exquisite. The mud pits were very cool to see as was the waterfall. The only downfall I would say is if you are older you may have trouble navigating the steps. They are all different sizes and were hard on my older legs but I made it through. To swim in the waterfall pool was amazing.

Our day long excursion with Oliver was excellent! We were in Costa Rica to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and ended up with a "personal" tour as we were the only ones in our group. Oliver paced our trip perfectly and was super informative, friendly, and professional. There was not much wildlife, but we saw the volcano, related landscape features, and plants. We hiked for just under 2 hours, then plunged in the waterfall, hit the hot springs with mud bath, and ended with the buffet lunch in a little over 4 hours. Because we were short on time, it was just the two of us, and we had our or transportation, we were able to customize the order that we did things which shortened time from the typical tour. We felt blessed the way it worked out, because we had to make the long drive to La Fortuna afterward.

Santos was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We saw so much on the national park walking tour - trees, butterflies, birds, animals and the volcanic highlites. Santos made sure that everyone was together and heard all the things that he was sharing. We were given points for answers - haha! He then took us down to the waterfall for a beautiful cool down swim. He gets top marks as a tour guide! We had the lunch buffet at the Don Elias restaurant - it was very good and the wait staff were friendly and efficient. Lodge staff kindly gave us a golf cart ride to and from the restaurant. Conclusion of the tour was the hot springs and mud baths. As we had not been there y we were unclear on what we needed to bring or do? But the staff at the mud baths were accommodating and informative walking us through all we needed to know. The only thing that would have made the day a 10 out of 10 would have been to have more detailed information on what to take with you and what we didn't need (towels to the mud baths as they are supplied there) Basically what the tour guide tells you when you meet them. A great day overall and I would recommend it.
