Riccardo gave us an awesome tour of Madeira. He is born and bred there, so he certainly has deep roots, lots of knowledge, and understands the culture. He speaks well and is really down to earth and a generally very nice fellow. We also met his brother/business partner Diogo. They make a great team and really know how to entertain you on your tour with extensive knowledge, customs and general all around details about Madeira. They took us to the best spots for magnificent views of the city, the top of the mountain and showed us up close the Banana and Grape growing areas. You will not be disappointed!!! Give them a chance and you will be very pleased with your experience!!!!

I booked a last-minute trip to Madeira and was looking for a small group tour that actually felt personalized. I ended up booking with Diogo, and it turned out to be a private tour—such an awesome surprise! Right after booking, Diogo was super quick to message me with his availability and clear meeting spots. Because he's a local, he knew the island inside and out, which gave me that true insider perspective you just can't get from a standard guidebook. He was so warm and easy to chat with, and I especially loved that he gave me plenty of space to wander around and explore on my own at each stop. Highly recommend Diogo if you want an amazing, authentic experience on such a stunning island!

We all had a great experience on this tour, Morrow explained everything in detail and was so friendly. This was our first visit to Madeira and it was very interesting to hear about some of the history.

We booked this excursion as we were on a cruise and this was our final port stop. Ricardo picked us up promptly from the cruise port and was waiting for us with a sign with our name on so easy to find. He had messaged the day before with full instructions on how to find him. We had discussed previously what we wanted to do and first on our list of priorities was the Tobbogan ride. It opened at 9 and we got there 15 mins before and were 4th in line. This gets super busy waits up to a few hours later in the day so we were glad to get this done first, probably a highlight of our trip such good fun! Next we went to a couple of lookouts one with a glass floor. Ricardo then suggests a smaller cable car for us to do which took us down to a small beach near a farm, this was much better than the main one. We ended the trip with some free time in a small fishing that Winston Churchill used to go to paint, we had free time to grab some food and explore the village also try the local drink poncho. Ricardo was so helpful and informative even lending us some money as we didn’t have enough cash on us before we found a cash point. He is extremely knowledgeable about his home and made our trip great fun and informative. I would highly recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Incredible Day in Madeira with Diogo! Today was an absolutely incredible experience thanks to Diogo Gonçalves of Madeira Tours by Diogo! Before arriving in Madeira, we read several reviews and contacted Diogo through WhatsApp to discuss the possibilities for our day. From our very first contact through the end of the tour, Diogo was professional, responsive and genuinely helpful. There was never any high-pressure selling, and he was refreshingly realistic about what we could comfortably see and experience during our limited time ashore. After exploring some of Madeira’s spectacular countryside and viewpoints, Diogo suggested stopping for lunch at a local restaurant—and what a recommendation! We enjoyed traditional espetada, with beautifully grilled meats and chicken served family-style with salad and French fries, accompanied by a lovely wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley. It was exactly the kind of authentic local experience we were hoping for. We had also asked Diogo if he could arrange a Madeira wine tasting before returning us to the ship. He took us to Henriques & Henriques, where we tasted our way from younger 3-year-old Madeiras to a 20-year-old, and ultimately remarkable wines from 1980 and 1927. What an experience! Beyond knowing Madeira extremely well, Diogo is personable, easygoing and simply enjoyable to spend the day with. By the end of our tour, it felt less like spending the day with a guide and more like exploring Madeira with a local friend. Yes, we highly recommend Diogo and Madeira Tours by Diogo. We had a fantastic half-day tour with Diogo. Booking was easy and hassle-free (online/ WhatsApp with any questions) and being collected from and dropped back at our hotel made everything very convenient. Diogo shared plenty of interesting information throughout the tour and was friendly and knowledgeable. We felt safe and comfortable throughout, which was especially important travelling as a family of four. We saw all the major sights on the west side of the island in a few hours which was perfect for us. Highly recommended - don’t bother looking elsewhere just book with Diogo!

Would definitely recommend this tour. Diogo is the perfect guide with his inside knowledge of Madeira and he escorted us to each of the island's highlights on the itinerary safely and efficiently.

I cannot recommend this enough. Diogo was amazing and took into all of our requests and needs, (I have limited mobility at the moment). His communication before the trip was great. His knowledge and pride of Madeira is evident. It wasn’t rushed and he looked after us the whole time. He does lots of different tours and transfers etc. madeiratoursbydiogo. We would definitely use again!!

Ricardo was a great tour guide. We had planned to visit all the stops separately, but condensing the trip with Ricardo meant we got to visit all the places we wanted to see in one day, with less waiting for public transport, and ultimately for much less money. Ricardo gave us as much time as we wanted at each stop and tailored the trip to the sights we wanted to see and the things we wanted to do. We couldn't reccomend him or this tour company enough. Also, the amount of information and the history we learned about the island was something you couldn't get doing this tour on your own. Ricardo's knowledge and experience is fantastic.
